The Rarest Megatron of Them All

Mirror mirror on the wall, can it really be there's an acution for the rarest Megatron of them all? The folks who bring us Lee's Toy Review magazine appear to have one of the ultra rare Hasbro 1994 Megatron Advanced Tactical Bomber action figures up for auction on Ebay. This figure was a bit of a myth for a time until one showed up at BotCon years ago. There's much debate over their being released or not. The extreme rarity and $5,500 starting bid suggests they were not.

Originally the molds were created for the Generation 2 toy line as a special team of combining Decepticon robots named Dreadwing and Smokescreen. The details are obscure, but there clearly was a product planned as Megatron. The figures were recolored from navy blue and teal to back and purple. The larger main robot would retain the leader's name with the smaller combiner jet being taking the name Starscream.

While these figure was never released in official quantities, the same color scheme was eventually used on the Japanese Beast Wars II series under the name's Starscream and BB. With Starscream saying on as the the smaller robot jet figure. Since then, these figures were release again under the Robots In Disguise line as the similarlay names Dreadwind and Smokejumper names but with new colors.
