IDW Publishing is previewing the character "Apache" from the "Beast Wars Sourcebook." The series is a team-up between Simon Furman and fan/celebrity Ben Yee for writing duties, Don Figueroa on the covers, and various artists for the profile pages.

This character is named B'Boom in the US series and I wish they would use those names- they did in the comics.

Look at the page closely. It says that Apache belongs to the sub-group The Pack. I don't think this is the B-Boom stuck on Earth.
I've read that they'll be including characters from BW II & BW Neo, so Apache makes sense.

Interesting, they don't use Lio Convoy's American name, Leo Prime (He was Leo Prime in the Classics series.)

I understand that this mold was named "B-Boom" in the US continuity, BUT you have to remember what they are trying to do here.
Rather than just concentrate on the USA line, the comic writers are trying to combine both the US AND the Japanese continuity here. As Apache's character already had some, ahem, "fleshing out" (no pun intended) via the Japanese continuity, then it made sense to use some of that to combine with the USA toy box bio to create a fully formed character.
Im sure at other times, either the USA names or charecter bios will have more dominance in other characters later on. I'm looking forward to seeing how "Tripredacus" will be dealt with. Is it the secret council members combined? Are they a group of rag-tag mexican bots out to salsa?
I'm also looking forward to seeing how the Blendtrons (Unicron created Fuzor clones), G1 Seacons (who were said to have fought Cybershark and lost a member), Insectrons (neutral renegate bots who eventually sided with the maximals), "mega zarak" (from the movie), Galvatron, Megastorm/Giga storm and even how the "Car Robots" Predacons came into being.
Im really looking forward to this. I hope Car Robots can eventually link to all this too. Wahoo!

Personally I think they should keep the US and Japanese series seperated.
The US Beast Wars series was almost pure perfection and suited for kids and adults alike with excellent storytelling and (visual) humor.
The Japanese series is aimed at kids and most likely unable to match the US series in terms of quality. (Not that this is a bad thing- BW is the BEST TF show ever made so it is hard to even come close to it.)
But the main thing is that Beast Wars was never meant to interact with the Japanese series.
I liked The Gathering except for 3 things, the inconsistencies with Beast Wars, the forced adding of Ravage and Grimlock and the rushed ending.
I mean, if Grimlock really was on the Axalon then both Primal and Megatron would have been out looking for him. Megatron to destroy him and Primal to gain a valuable (and experienced warrior).
Same with Ravage's transwarp cruiser. I highly doubt there was even a wreck that size but even IF there was both Megatron and Primal (or perhaps even Tarantulas) would have picked it clean and left nothing salvagable.
Am I to believe they are THAT careless?

On the note of grimlock, primal and megs only went after the pods that they could find. by the time of all the pods falling to earth there were bigger things to do then go hunting for stasis pods. Megatron was out on a vendetta to change time and primal was trying to get his team home. they wouldnt have focused on who they wanted or needed. after finding some pods burned out they probobly would have assumed the worse and not bothered.
for ravages ship, again, right after that so much happened so fast that they wouldnt have bothered with the transwarp cruiser. they were all about the ark after that.
anyways, this is things the creators didnt think about in the making of beast wars, thats why furman has to come up with things to fill these loop holes.

I agree that the Japanese BW shows (even the original show edit) were childish and terrible. HOWEVER I dont think that is any reason to not incorporate good elements from those shows into the US Beastwars continuity. That way, the US version becomes the "complete" and "correct" one (the Japanese original show edited the US storyline as Beast Convoy WAS "The" convoy, I think, so he couldnt have met himself for some reason. I belive this whoe epic part of the show was completely left out or heavily edited for those reasons).
I hope Big Convoy and Gigatron get a mention!

The point about BW was that there were no loopholes. (At least I do not consider them as loopholes.)
Tarantulas was barely seen in the third season and had no interest in the ark. What he was doing we found out in the final episode. So he would have had ample time to check the cruiser for parts or salvage.
Especially since Ravage would most likely be his only ally being a fellow agent of the Predacon Secret Police.
I feel that Furman was stretching to include familiar stuff into this story in an attempt to make it more exciting which he should not have done.
