By BaCon on Saturday, September 30, 2006

One down and lots more Transformers fun to go. We're set up for the IDW Publishing panel and Simon Furman, Don Figueroa, and Chris Ryall are on hand to give us an overview of all the good stuff they are working on for the coming year. Read our panel report for lots of updates from the IDW crew.

Questions and Answers

+ How does Stormbreaker tie in to the DW stuff?
It doesn't.

+ Will there be any BW one-shots?
No, will just be G1 right now. However there are more plans for Beast Wars. Something more than one shots.

+ Will there be any more Evolution lines?
Yes, but prob not till after the movie. We don't want too many different continuities. Denying that, Furman mentioned the use in Headmasters jokingly. Furman let it slip yesterday the Headmasters would be in the comic.

+ Any plans to finish DW stuff?
It's all tied up in legal stuff and has to be resolved if it will ever be resolved.

+ BW profile series will be written by Ben Yee and Simon Furman. Drawing will be done by all kinds of artists including Don, Guido, Nick Roach and new guys!

+ Furman just let it slip again that the Predacons will be showing up in the comic.

+ Any type of past stories like War Within coming soon?
They think so, Furman says. We will probably see stories that harken back to the past.

+ IDW is looking to do their own GI Joe/TF crossover. They want it to be good.

+ They ask people if they like Humans in the comic? Audience goes ape shit!!!

+ There are plans to make both human haters and likers happy.

+ Robby Musso is doing the Ultra Magnus one-shot.

+ Chris Ryall and Furman are doing a 4-part prequel for the movie Prime Directive.

+ Chris said people shouldn't be afraid to post their work on their message boards. Because they do sometimes get picked up.

+ IDW will be reprinting the War Within stories.

+ Bob Budiansky was not looking to do original TF stories but after doing the movie adaption it seems to have wet his appetite. Might do something like taken past stories and do a Greatest Battle type title.

+ Look for some of the Marvel UK stories likely to be reprinted in Generations.

+ No denial or confirmation on the crossover rumor.

+ IDW hopes to reprint all the Beast Wars covers or a big art book showing all the artwork.

+ If it makes sense to the story, there might be some Japanese G1 characters showing up. No Beast Wars ones except in the profile book.

+ IDW can't do an Alternators comic cause of licensing restrictions.

Pete Sinclair of Fun Publications was recently interviewed over video, and in the process seems to have let a bit too much fall in frame. Based on an enhanced screencap by well known fan Monzo, we've identified and highlighted the toys that are visible. The image is low-res, but with some work defining the edges the forms of the figures can be made out well enough. Of course this is likely a spoiler for some of this year's convention toys, so please keep that in mind before proceeding. For full info, keep reading!
As promised, following the requested number of retweets the Botcon Twitter posted a work-in-progress form of the first page of the 2015 comic book. Set in the catch-all world of Axiom Nexus, the comic is sure to be filled with visual references. We've learned that Matt Frank will be doing the linework (which explains something Mecha Godzillaish in one panel) which has us quite excited, as Matt Frank is one of our favorite occasional Transformers artists from the IDW books. Keep reading to check out the image and get more info!
BotCon 2015 has announced the theme of its convention-exclusive figures: Cybertron's Most Wanted! The teaser image promises "The Thief. The Muscle. The Loose Cannon. The Bounty Hunter. The Boss." And if we don't get a Transformer that becomes the A-Team van, I'll be extremely disappointed. BotCon 2015 happens June 18th-21st in Chicago/St. Charles, Illinois, and we'll keep you posted on all developments with the con figures. Until then, keep reading to see the teaser for yourself!
Fun Publications have begun the process of hyping up Botcon 2015, coming to an obscure and remote suburb of Chicago near you next summer! Today they've stated that the official reveal for the box set theme will be made during the week of New Year's, with toy reveals to follow soon after. They followed this with a series of conditions to explain what the set would not represent, launching a flurry of speculative activity for what remains. You can click through and see the original tweets and find out what's off the table this year!
Dairycon 2015 marks the 15th anniversary of the show, and will be held on March 28th of 2015 at the Retlaw Plaza in Fond du Lac, WI. Pre-registration is now available, but to mark the occasion they're going to be allowing walk-in traffic for the first time! Even so, if you're attending you'll probably want to preregister to have access to the unique Dairycon exclusive figures. Keep reading for details and the announcement from the Dairycon Facebook group!
