BotCon - Transformers Club Roundtable
By News_Staff on Saturday, June 30, 2007 @ 07:26:02 PM
The club is aware of the Fans dismay over the classics molds in the set but felt that since Hasbro had no plans to make the molds, this would be the one chance fans had to get them.
The website is being worked on. They are looking to add pre-orders and maintain other community aspects of the site. They are looking to fix some bugs with the cart and other stuff.
The price of the club toys is due to low production runs that Takara does not like to make. They need to sell a lot more of them to to get the prices down. They are trying things to cut the cost like making multiple figures at once.
The best way to see more club exclusives is to buy the ones they have for sale now and previously. They still have back stock of figures like Astrotrain, the money tied up in those hinders their abilty to make more. So support the club if you want more toys.
Ben Yee's "Razor's Edge" story is done and will be published in the near future.
Supposedly Alpha Trion was a figure they wanted to do for previous shows, but found a place for it this year and used it. Thank YOU!
There was mention of a "reborn Deluxe Insecticons" after the Descent into Evil set, but said it would never happen.
Springer was originally supposed to be to be Sentinel Prime.
They want to offer toys sooner but Hasbro does not allow them access to product before other retailers.
They will not have the SDCC Rodimus and Meansor because Hasbro has not offered them and last year they had a lot of problems with online orders for Nemesis Prime.
The Transformers club will soon have more members than the GI Joe club.hip in the GI Joe Club.
The topic of the Universe Seacons came up and it was clear by the half joking avoidence of the question that there is something going on with it... or they are were just pulling our chains.
Like wise, people asked about Titaniums being made for the club with another "no comment" response from the panel.
Locations of future conventions were thrown out. Would we like to see shows at Disney world and would Spring or summer be preferred.
The Panel asked if we'd like to see a Transformers convention along side GI Joe.
They also talked about shows being done in the UK and Europe as well but the expense of travel and such is a big deterrant at this time.
More questions were thrown about larger figures like Leader class figures at a higher price.
The club is trying to keep the costs down so they can offer lower prices. However they need more support from the fans. More memberships and members buying toys will help them offer better value.

I understand the business part of this hobby and would like to cooperate but I am just unable to do so right now. I can barely purchase retail figures so club figures are out of the question. ;_; I am thankful for your effor and wish the figures would be available through others channesl ro that they could last a little longer shile I straighten my finances. The Seacon joking sounds like a good sign to me. I am intrigued by the "Reborn Deluxe Insection" thing. Can somebody elaborate or is it top secret? Again, nice summary and I am sadden I can contribute more. ;_; |
Re: BotCon - Transformers Club Roundtable (Score: 1) by HMRC4EVR on Monday, July 02, 2007 @ 08:24:43 PM | The club wanted to bring back the characters of the Deluxe Insecticons with new molds, but the rights had expired and they couldn't do that.
They didn't go into a lot of detail why, but since the toys were orginally liscenced from another company by Takara then to Hasbro (like Whirl and Roadbuster were) it's possible the liscence has simply fell by the wayside in the 20+ years since the toy and it's not available at the moment.

Re: BotCon - Transformers Club Roundtable (Score: 1) by notpicard on Tuesday, July 03, 2007 @ 02:49:08 AM | Actually, though they generally avoided it, there was a comment made regarding the unproduced 6" titaniums. They said that they looked into it and that it seems they are not available to the club/con because they would possibly see life in another outlet....it seems from Hasbro's panel that this outlet would be the classics "Universe" line.
Also, Alpha Trion was not intened for a previous club set. He was intended for what they had originally planned for this year's club set, which also would have used the Sentinel Prime (CD Hotshot mold) that is mentioned. |
Re: BotCon - Transformers Club Roundtable (Score: 1) by Blitzwing on Tuesday, July 03, 2007 @ 08:37:54 PM | | According to Hasbro, the sales for the figures combined with the admitted poor distribution didn't justify tooling costs for the 6" series. Hence the axe. There was heavy demand in the room to have the jettisoned 6" molds carry over to the Classics 2.0 Universe line, but Hasbro didn't seem too receptive of it... |

Utter rot. Takara DOES make limited production runs of TFs, especially for the likes of "E-Hobby", "Hobby magazine" and a few others. They are in some cases remolded figures too. ALL are limited edition to a few thousand figs each. They dont cost the earth either.
