Convoy iPod Docking Bay w/ Speakers

By bwbm on Monday, January 22, 2007

A new Convoy from Takara is on the way and it is now pre-orderable through BigBadToyStore. The Convoy is a white Apple iPod digital music player docking station with speakers that is fully licensed by Apple, Inc. The docking station can be transformed from the cab with trailer to a robot. Convoy will be the same size as the Generation 1 version and features a brand-new head mold as well. This is the second in the "Music Label" line, as BBTS calls it. The first is the Soundwave MP3 player. Check out the pictures of the docking station in robot and vehicle mode in the full article.

Tight. Please oh please American release?

But, unless he gets a repaint, he'll be Ultra Magnus, not Convoy/Optimus Prime.

is it me or does the head look different from the 1984 Prime?

Neat idea. Terrible execution. Pass.

Well, maybe for the diehard fanatic that has to have everything Prime...but I think the Soundwave mp3 player pulls off a better execution. Still...I think both are neat ideas from Takara.

The article accompanying the picture does say there is a new head mold.

Don't you see ? takara got his plan started !
They know they gonna hit the hearth with the M-Bay movie.
You have cell phone and camera robots in the movie,
now they start with new line of mp3 things,
including a I-pod licence from Apple !...
Remember, they asked licences to car constructors
with the Binaltech/alternators to create a " deluxe line "
to gain new buyers : the daddy who like to have
well-reproduce scale on their shelf or, for example,
the more than 30 year old one like me
who watched transformers in the 80's...

Takara got a lot of new waves for toys...

Style92,

It's a prototype. These are rarely the final colors.

LOL!! Reminds me of trucks used by some local radio shows to do their promos and host live events on location! The idea of having OP like that may look crazy but at the same time is cool!

It's iPod Magnus!!!! Huahahahahahhahaha.....ok, stupid joke.
Anyway, the idea was pretty cool, but I think that the design for the dock is kinda lacking considering aple stuff.........

Since the Docking Bay is officially approved by Apple the Zen more than likely will not work. This system will not work with the iPod Shuffle. The AC adapter will also be included.

Of course the Zen won't work, that's the point I was making. I'd like this, but I can't use it.

You sure? He looks like he may be white to coincide with the Ipod.

But, I know he could get repainted. I'm just saying right now he's more Ultra Magnus.

if apple can license speakers, how bout they license the iPod design for Soundwave? a transforming iPod? that'd be gold! prolly white, actually. or better yet, how bout using the classic blue/silver soundwave color scheme?
