Extended Movie Bonecrusher vs. Prime Battle Clip

By HeatGuy on Sunday, June 03, 2007 @ 09:35:15 PM

If any of you missed the pre-show of the MTV 2007 Movie Awards which featured a certain clip from a certain "Transformers" movie, you are in luck that Youtube member "Tygerclaw" has managed to snag one of MTV's new clips aired and uploaded it for all to view. The clip is a much longer cut of the highway battle scene between Optimus Prime and Bonecrusher. Take a look at the clip below.

Once again, you really can't make out what is really happening in the action sequence other than there are large robots attacking one another. Each looks too indistinct. I know they are optimus prime and bone crusher, but it just doesn't look good.

And, can anyone explain why bone crusher bust the bus? It really seems gratuitous. Plus optimus prime jumping in front of moving traffic putting people in danger?

Since we're playing pick the scene apart,

notice how as bone crusher skates toward prime (the shot where we see prime's back), there's a semi off to the left that should be passing them at any moment. When we go to the wideshot, the semi has been replaced by a car and a pickup truck crashing into each other.

It is of course possible this is actually a cut down and that there is material missing from between shots.

Let's see...why did Bonecrusher bust the bus? Maybe because IT'S A DECEPTICON!!! Why be named Bonecrusher if you're going to be polite to the organic beings? LOL

This movie looks AWESOME! The robots look great, and the action hot!

well, i'd say the CGI looks perfectly real.
lighting, compositing, movement, everything just perfect.

remember this is a low quality mini-video - *if* there were flaws, then you wouldn't see them here, anyway.

Believe it or not, for me the most interesting piece of this whole clip is when Optimus hops up.

You see the front grill of the truck swinging freely, because of the sudden motion of his jump.

Very nice.

Can't believe anyone is actually complaining about this! C'mon FFS! We're the ones being rewarded for keeping this franchise alive all these years, it was never gonna be perfect for anyone so just try and find one positive thing you like and focus on it. Would anyone prefer transformers just fade off with our generation??

Yeah actually I think they would.

Here's how I look at it, you gotta shut off the adult "collectors" brain and switch on the kid brain.

I was 12 when the original show hit. As much as I still love TF's today, it's not all because of g1. It was great when I was kid, and I collected bunch of the older figures for my nostalgic moments and that's that.

People forget that when we first got into TF's, WE WERE KIDS! I don't want to hear that "well I still wouldn't like it even if I was a kid" that's total bull!

As we get older, we tend to get more stuck in our own seperate ways. People see this movie as their childhoods being raped. I pity these people because they are so stuck in their own worlds they can't see past their own shadows. They insist they stand for "purity" when in reality they stand against the very concept that made TF's what it is and has kept it going strong for over 20 years.

How's that for irony?!?

I mention bonecrusher smashing into the bus because it seemed gratuitous. It wasn't needed and it could have hurt him. The answer that he is a decepticon isn't an answer. Megatron never cared for humans, but to him they were below his basic notice. He wouldn't go out of his way to smash something unless it gave him an advantage. Now if he was being careless, as if the humans didn't matter that would be a different story.

Optimus prime seemed out of character in that he didn't try to remove bonecrusher from the situation.

I don't know what CGI you guys are looking at thought but the robots look very indistinct, like walking trash piles.

This has nothing to do with "my childhood has been raped". I have never held that position. I also don't appreciate people putting words into my mouth. I just hate the way the robots look and if this wasn't transformers, I wouldn't have given this movie a second look. To me this is "war of the worlds", tom cruise and "stealth", level of crap. That is the position I am looking at this from. Not from my childhood, not from what I am attached to, but from a movie going position and the fact that I have to work for nearly two hours to pay for this movie.

The movie simply looks bad. The CGI looks bad. The designs look bad. The only thing that would be left is nostalgia and I don't even get that from this movie.

If this is my reward for buying transformers, then I feel cheated. I don't even get a solid movie.

Oh boo freakin' HOO! The CGI looks indistinct on a low-res youtube video.. The CGI ALWAYS looks indistinct on those video's, but when a decent res trailer came along, damn near everything was fine.

Get real people..we know this is gonna look spectacular on the big screen (which won't play at "youtube-res"), and this movie will probably be the main reason why I get a blue-ray or HD-DVD player.

So in other words, you're just determined to hate this film no matter what? That's exactly how it sounds!

And since you know nothing of Bonecrusher...why are you questioning his actions? HURT??? You think a giant destroying machine like that would be hurt by tearing through a bus??? And comparing what you BELIEVE to be Megatrons beliefs/actions to that of another Decepticon is crazy...Bonecrusher is NOT Megatron, so how do you know what it would or would not do? As for the Optimus fighting in the middle of the human activity, we haven't seen the whole scene so you can't see a clip and understand everything that's going on. Plus, I believe attacking the Decepticons would be the quickest way to remove the threat, what else would Optimus do while a crazy Decept. like Bonecrusher is loose??? Just stand there and watch as he continues to rip vehicles apart?

People are sooo nitpicky! It's a summer action film, not art.

Sorry, the haters tend to be of the g1 purist camp.

Still, Bay said all of the promo shots weren't even final cuts, they were months old and they look much better now. I don't know if that was just certain clips or all of them.

It doesn't do it any favors seeing in this manner in comparison to how it will on the big screen. The guy who wrote the review of the test screening said they were flawless.

Too much gratuitous violence?

GOD I HOPE SO!!!

Please stop being sarcastic. I don't think you would be as offended if I hadn't touched on something you all are thinking in the back you your mind.

You are right it is a youtube video. Being low res isn't the problem. The problem is that when one tackles the other, you can't tell where one robot ends and the next one begins because they are so busy looking. That is the problem. When CGI spiderman tackles CGI doc oct, you can tell which one is spiderman and which is the Doc on a youtube res video. When bonecrusher tackles Prime, it looks like just one giant mass.

I have no problem with changes. I loved beast wars, I even like beast machines for what it was. I liked RID. I am not thrilled with armada and on though. Hell this would have been better if it was a Beast wars Movie.

But hey, you want to shill out 30 dollars for a movie, be my guest. I'll wait for it to come to TV, or I might get it in the mail from Blockbuster. If the clips haven't changed my mind (actually turned me off more to the movie), there is little you all are going to do to change my mind by saying I'm a purist blah blah blah woof woof.

Maybe some people.... I dunno... are just better at processing detailed images than others. The complex designs don't bother me at all, and I don't get 'confused' by the images in the slightest.

$30 for the movie? I guess you're thinking ahead to the DVD already? That's thinking quite ahead.

Jeez people you are pulling this 20-second clip apart as if if you dig deep enough you will be able to predict the future or something.

It's a summer blockbuster, based on a cartoon, based on a toy, from a time when the majority of us were 4.

Keep getting nitpicky about this people are going to start branding us the New Trekkies or something. Keep Transformers cool and something we can be openly happy about and not a group of people who get lampooned on SNL.

Nobody seems to get after the reality of giant, transforming robots from outer space with names like Jazz and Bumblebee and happen to speak English. Just calm down, don't take it too seriously, and just sit back and enjoy it for what it is...if not maybe a boy wizard or a sous-chef rat is more authentic for your liking.
