Labeouf Talks Transformers Filming w/ RottenTomatoes

By bwbm on Monday, November 06, 2006

Shia Labeouf, who is scheduled to appear as Sam "Spike" Witwicky in the Transformers movie come July 4, 2007, tells movie and video game entertainment website RottenTomatoes that the Transformers film was hard to make. "It was like war. I've never been in that much pain in my life, emotionally, physically. It was just a hard movie to make," Mr. Labeouf commented. However, according to the article, Mr. Labeouf "has confidence that all his suffering will pay off." "I think it's going to be good. Who knows? I'm not involved like that. It's not a 'come visit the editing room' kind of relationship. I know that what we've shot, I've seen dailies, looks nuts but I don't know how the assemblage is going to be." Mr. Labeouf is currently running promotion rounds for Emilio Estevez's movie about Robert Kennedy's assasination "Bobby."

Maybe they should have stayed away from G-1 names and just come up with completely new characters then. The more I see the more I think I'll wait for it to come out on video. Then I'll just rent it.

GPD makes a great comment about character names. By using G1 names, some people won't get over the fact that (however wrong it may be) this ISN'T a G1 movie. If they had used all new names (or at least newer ones), it might have avoided all this controversy.

Rottentomatoes? They hate everything! Why talk to them! Especially about a fictional sci-fi special effects popcorn flick? They're gonna trash the movie before it even comes out. Oh wait, I just described the Transformers fans! Maybe Rottentomatoes.com & the Transformer fandom do fit together perfectly!

Yeah GPD is definitely on to something with the names. Plus if they names were different people would probably be more open-minded about this. That was one of the reasons Blackout was so well received was because no one had reall heard of him before and seeing an all new character in a new style is not nearly a bad as seeing a familiar character in a new form.

I totally agree with you GPD

While I personally never expected a G1 movie yet I still hate this monstrosity. They have no one to blame but themself. They used classic names got a classic voice actor hell does anyone even remember the CLASSIC LIFESIZE PRIME at Con with the Elita-1 mudflaps. They shot themselfs in the foot with the pre movie marketing. lol way to go Dreamworks ..dumbasses. Bionicle called they want movie rights /grin *runs away*

Well you feel they should use newer names how about they take some names from the latest Transformers cartoon Cybertron. They can just re-use Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream and such from that show. Instead of using Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Starscream from the Generation 1 cartoon.

I'll watch before I trash it, I am STILL happy to at least have a Transformer Live action movie coming out.

I think that they absolutely do agree with GPD. Of course, that's just my opinion.
