Another great custom has been found on eBay, no its not another movie custom. This one is something we've never seen before. Even though Takara made a MP-2 Ultramagnus, seller xboxerj took the concept up one better with a full G1 upgrade for you MP-1 Convoy. It is no wonder it sold for over $500, You have to see this to believe it in the gallery.

nice, now if takara took this, prettied it up, then it would be worth buying.

Uh, it does. Read the description. =)
This is made by the same guy who made the Elita-1 figure a few news posts back:
http://marksprojects.com/trailermp2.htm
He's also made his own MP Megatron:
http://marksprojects.com/megatron.htm
and is making a 4+ foot tall Metroplex:

Majorly wicked stuff. Kinda shows how hard it is to get the paint right though.

Anybody else notice he's holding MP Prime in there with rubber-bands?

Im sure a nice Chinese company will make a knock ff kit of this like they dod for Prime's trailer (which is BETTER than the official Takara trailer).

Is it really better than the Takara? You can you list me a quick overview as to why its better?
I havent bought it yet and this would help me.
BTW, this is a nice custom. 500.00 is pretty steep though. Someone out there either has a good plan to reproduce this shit and resell it, or lotsa money to toss around.
I also noticed MP Prime has no smoke stacks. lol...
The fact that theres no pics of the custom in car carrier mode, makes me wonder if it looks like crap.
Had I been the creator of it, Id definitely wouldve posted pics in both modes. But he either didnt have time, or wasnt proud enough to post such images.
Its still a great custom though and I dont think I could do any better. :P

Again, contrary to incorrect information in the news post, this was *not* created by the ebay seller. It was made by Anemis (the same guy who made the Elita-1 figure a few news posts back). And he posted images on his site:
http://marksprojects.com/trailermp2.htm
Now, I'll agree that it's not "pretty" but it's one hell of a good job coming from nothing. Not designed by highly paid japanese designers at Takara or Hasbro. Mark/Anemis is one hell of a kitbasher/scratchbuilder. Look at his Metroplex and the lighting and detailed offices/furniture he's put into the towers... crazy, I tell ya.

I retract my statement, Project9. The carrier shows great potential for an actual licensed product in the future which if if were sold, Id definitely buy.
I wish he used flat paint instead of that gloss paint. The falt paint would help hight the inconsistencies around the molds.
A little more attention to detail on Magnuses head in terms of getting it perfectly symmetric. (I sculpt comic book statues professionally myself) I understand the difficulties of making a straight cut mold. But for something like this, the pain of making it 100%% perfect, would have been worth it.
His work is enjoyable and Im glad he's doing it. No one else seems to care much to do such things. Well, at this level atleast.
hats off

I definitely need to spell check my own god damned posts. Again, my apologies for my ridiculous typos.
BTW, im loving his Bumblebee custom. It kills me that they get sold for soo much though. Good for him, but bad for me since I can afford it. ..haha

No worries, Prowl78. =)
For all those actually interested, he's been redoing this since March. The one in the auction is the original design.
He put in a light-up head, the matrix chamber lifts & lights up, more details and articulation, etc etc. You can read through the thread for before/after pics and all the crap he added.
To be honest, I don't know if there are still rubber bands to hold it together... but still. =)
