Orci, Kurtzman, Kruger In Talks For ''Transformers 2''
By bwbm on Thursday, October 04, 2007
"Transformers" veteran screenwriting duo Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman and newcomer Ehren Kruger (The Brothers Grimm) are in talks to pen "Transformers 2," reports Entertainment News International. DreamWorks SKG and Paramount Pictures are reportedly eyeing at striking a $5 to $7 million deal with the screenwriters.
The three A-list writers for one movie are unprecedented, but it is suggested that is due to the fast-tracking of the movie before the Hollywood strike and Mr. Orci and Mr. Kurtzman's working on J.J. Abrams' upcoming "Star Trek" film.
Director Michael Bay and Hasbro president Brian Goldner are reported to be happy about Mr. Kruger's knowledge of the Transformers mythology.
Aside from Mr. Bay, producers from "Transformers" Tom DeSanto, Lorenzo DiBonaventura, and Don Murphy are also set to return. Steven Spielberg will fill the executive producer chair even though he was called "completely immaterial" by Paramount Pictures.

Boy, Paramount are a bunch of ungracious bastards. Spielberg's name still has pull with audiences, even if only with the producer's "stamp of approval." Most people don't even notice which credit it is anyway-- they see the credit and say, "ohh, it's Steven Speilberg!"
If they think that was "immaterial" to Transformers' success they need to look back at the last 30 years of blockbuster filmmaking. Or just take a look at the top 20 grossing films and see how many of them have Speilberg's name attached.

(as he is making prayers and offerings to the Tiki Gods) Please... don't let the sequel start a whole new round of flame wars.

Spielbergs name is the only thing that attracted people to the movie, they thought "Oh, steven speilberg's attached to it, it must be good." then after the film finished they thought "Jesus, that's the worst piece of crap film I've seen this century, even worse than all Uwe Boll films put together and Alien Vs Predator, why the hell was Spielberg's name on this?"
