Chris Ryall of IDW Publishing has
started a thread in the IDW forums to allow fans a place to ask their questions about the
recently announced Transformers and Avengers Crossover.
All of the marked quotes below are by Chris Ryall, Editor-In-Chief of IDW Publishing.
On continuity:
"It's set in-continuity to place it in our timeline, but it's still a standalone thing that probably won't be felt in the regular comics (techincally, where it takes place, it's already happened...). We might vaguely refer to it (and certainly it impacts one TF not appearing in future stories of our books)."
(Mr. Ryall further eludes the Transformer not appearing in the future will be a Decepticon) The book takes place between Infiltration and Escalation, "but as mentioned before, it's not like it'll affect anything in the main book, it'll just make sense in the overall timeline.
Well, it'll affect one thing in the main book, if you're a certain Decepticon..."
Starscream will not appear in the crossover due to his not fitting in the book's timeline.
On the Avengers side of the line-up:
"This is a fun Avengers line-up--you get the old guard like Iron Man (when he was likable!) and Cap (before he surrendered!), along with Spider-Man (still in the red and blues, not back in black), Wolverine, Ms. Marvel and Luke Cage, and even some lesser-seens like the Falcon."
On the content of the book:
"If there's anything political in this story, it's because of a certain threat on the Latverian/Symkarian border that could potentially bring about war (not the Civil kind) and cause these different groups to be drawn together. But big fights, big action, big surprises, a big story... it's gonna have all of these things. We're out to impress, not depress."
