By News_Staff on Monday, July 02, 2007 @ 01:28:32 PM

Hasbro had the SDCC Exclusive Alternator Rodimus figure on display for the fans to check out at this year's BotCon. Hasbro toy deisgner Steve Bono was on hand to answer questions and mentioned that this might be the last Alternator they make. Won't pay more than 40 for him though, so I doubt I'll be able to get one.
On a side note, what a ridiculous quote for such a young impetuous bot, "Wisdom will always defeat firepower" c'mon that's a Kup line at best, maybe Ratchet, but not Hot Rod/Rodimus |

I know my info's a little out of date, but last I'd heard Alternators was a marginal success at best, due to stop-and-go sales, high per-unit cost, and Hasbro's increasingly schizophrenic distribution. They did have a good run, and I'm damn sorry to see them go. Especially since Rumble and Ravage-kitty never even showed down here. It's like they started tailing off sometime early last year.
Also, definitely a wierd quote. A more Hot Rod-esque quote would be "A badass paint job and custom wheels will always defeat firepower, maaaan!" |

Either way, ending the alternator line is a HUGE mistake on Hasblow's part, i'm not touching the movie toys. Hopefully they will continue the line in Japan as binaltech or KISS, and i will just import them. |

Poop! Why pick a character nobody has any person affection for. How about Dragstrip or Brawn? |

I am however disapointed. This probably means my recent return to transformers collecting will be coming to a close. I'll have to wait and see if they do any more new MP figures (skywarp doesn't count- I already paid for starscream).
I'd been secretly hoping that (even though the movie toys are more realistic looking than most TF lines) they might try a spin at some alt/mp versions of some of the movie characters.
Oh well, it looks suspiciously like deluxe bumblebee 08 and ultimate bumblebee may be the last two tfomers I buy.
Come on hasbro, prove me wrong.
The japanese alt's and Mp's really were something special. |
