Spielberg Out of the Picture on ''Transformers 2''?

By News_Staff on Thursday, September 27, 2007 @ 05:27:34 PM

E! has posted an article that gives some new insight into the short and long term status of a "Transformers" sequel. Speaking to Paramount spokesman Marvin Levy, E! was told "Obviously you have a movie that's made as much money as Transformers has, you'd want to do another one."

The real surprise is a revelation that friction between DreamWorks co-founders Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg and Paramount suggests an end to their contract next year. The studio referred to bosses Spielberg and Geffen this week as "completely immaterial" to Paramount, since Transformers would stay with Paramount.

There's no telling what would happen if Spielberg walks. Read the full article at eonline.com.

To be honest, this surprises me none. Speilberg and Geffen are obviously not happy with the outcome, but they should have seen the writing on the wall. As the Daimler/Chrysler decable from 1998 taught, there is never a merging of equals. Companies are bought and absorbed so one can have power over the other. If Steve and David truly thought that Paramount would give them equal status, they were bullshitting themselves.

It would be a shame to lose Speilberg for the next film. But don't count Dreamworks out yet. After all... Paramount does own them now.

Since Trans fans normally don't get there way, what will probably happen is that we'll lose Speilberg & keep Bay...you know, the opposite of what we want! Honestly, I'd be fine with losing both and starting fresh with a sequel. But if we maintain both...then come on guys, some more character development, please!
