TF: Universe Nightracer?

By News_Staff on Thursday, June 17, 2004

Several new images of an Energon Arcee repaint named Nightracer, a Decepticon, appeared in our inbox this morning. This figure seems to be on card ready for release, with new card art to boot. Could this be an exclusive of some sort? Only time will tell, but this is definitly the fastest that a mold has shown up in Universe. Read on for images of this mystery.

More repaints..... Just what we dont need. Come on Hasbro, throw us a bone. Give us something new.

It looks very cool.

Im skeptical for some reason. Dont know why. Normally something like this SOMEONE would have reported on before.

The cardback looks suspicious, the bottom of it does not have any "cuts" to it, which Universe backs usually do. Unless there is a change to it of course. But hey, if someone lets us know this is legit... ill buy it.

I actually LIKE this repaint, BUT they needed to color coordinate the clear plastic, yellow or purple would have been MUCH better!

It could be a fake. Looks damn good if it is. How many times have we seen a Photoshop job that Hasbro later reissued? Remember Overloard/Ultra Magnus? The fans totally made that one happen. Listen up Hasbro. We want this one. :P

Yeah, I'm skeptical as well. For one it seems to be on a deluxe sized card, and based on future releases like Fireflight, they tend to include something else to justify the increase to deluxe level. But then again, didn't Hasbro trademark the name Nightracer a while back? Whatever the case may be, I deffinately want one. Nightracer needed a more feminine form than her old G2 Go-bot body.

I would be really surprised if this is a Photoshop job... the coloring is very consistent between all the pics, the accessories aren't arranged in the same manner as Arcee's, and the character art is different. Maybe they're trying to see if newer molds will sell better since not everyone will have bought them before and already "moved on" to newer stuff. It'll work on me - I don't buy Universe stuff, but Arcee is cool enough to warrant picking up another version of this mold.

I can believe the repaint - it looks very consistent. But the card is definitely a mock-up: it's simply way too big, and too neat.

The card looks fake very fake. It looks like some white out was used, but I dunno. The figure itself looks very real, and another thing is noone seemed to notice this figure yet which makes me doubt it's real. If it is i'm buying it.

Aha! I knew it!

This is clearly a fake. While someone may have done an EXCELLENT job with the repain job, the packaging is obviously fake.

The "cuts" on the board are suspect, and the size of the packaging is totally off. It is the size of a Ratchet packaging.

Hey guys, this is definitely a fake, bcos of a few reasons as some have already pointed out:

1) The Energon weapons are RED.
2) The "Cardart" is nothing more than a Photoshopped version of the SUPERLINK Ariel
3) The bubble is the same as the Superlink Ariel one, check the pics on the other post.
4) Notice the pic of 'Nightracer' holding the weapons. the INSIDE of the right leg is obviously WHITE. Now why would a toy company mold apiece in white, when the whole piece is meant to be BLACK? hmm... : )

So, yeah, don't hope for this, Hasbro ain't so dumb as to reissue a current series. Anyhow, nice job whoever did it :)
