Takara Classics Get New Paint Apps

By News_Staff on Wednesday, October 17, 2007

BBTS sent out this update today: "Takara will be releasing the Classics line domestically in Japan, if you've missed out on any of them this is a great chance to fill in your collection. We've also just learned that they plan to update the paint versions of the figures to better reflect how they looked in G1 animations. We are digging for details (especially on Megatron - who would look awesome in gray & black), but there is not anything concrete available yet." Order Info

If that ends up being the case, that would be some ol' BULLS###!

Seconded. And like movie Metallic Megatron, if the paint apps are more accurate, we'll be wondering the hell Hasbro couldn't just do it like that in the first place..

The reasons Classics Megatron has to have "Nerf" colors in the US is because of the toy gun laws.

Yes Yes Yes!!

Takara Rules

There in Europe we haven´t any toy weapon restriction, but anyways we had to get thet Nerf-colored Meg. I´ll ask for one imported from japan as soon as I´ll see the final product colors.

I KNEW this was going to happen. Im so happy I saved my Yen for the inevitable Japan only repaints.

Im so looking forward to the G1 and G2 megs.

Who wants to bet Takara release ALL the seekers at retail eh?

Oh happy day.

I personally think that Classics Megs is one the all time great Decepticon Molds and in his colors still looks great. I also always thought it was deeply under-appreciated just because fans couldn't get past the colors.

That said, I admit a more G1 accurate color scheme for him would be most welcome, and I'd probably import it.

Damnit, I would have been so ticked had I picked up Megs. Currently I've only gotten Rodimus and Grimlock, so it isn't too bad.

There will always be something better in life.

Wait, so the Hasbro version *had* to have the Nerf colors, or would the orange plug have been sufficient? Nobody wants a plug on his/her imported MP Megs, but I'd be fine with one on a regular-priced deluxe or voyager mold.

From all accounts, yes. In some parts of the country, a plastic orange tip will do, but in others, a toy gun has to be brightly colored enough so no one would ever come close to mistaking it for the real thing. Hence the purple and green. (I have yet to see a nerf blaster in those colors, so I don't know why everyone is call them nerf colors.)

Theyre too expensive. Over 40.00 for these... no way.
