''Transformers'' To Hit IMAX Theaters September 21st

IMAX Corporation, DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures has announced that "Transformers" will be released onto IMAX theatres on September 21. The film will be digitally re-mastered onto the IMAX format. "IMAX's all-encompassing format takes 'TRANSFORMERS' to a whole new level of detail and intensity," said Michael Bay, the film's director. "I am very excited to work with the team at IMAX to create this turbo-charged version." Read the full press release at ENewsI.

Over on www.rottentomatoes.com they are reporting this as well...they are also saying that the IMAX versions will have additional scenes in them. Maybe it explains a few things like where Barricade went off to. lol.

I wonder if other scenes will be trimmed down for this release? Aren't many IMAX films shortened versions?

There USED to be a 2 hour max time limit on how long an IMAX film could be. this caused films like Apollo 13 and Star Wars Ep II to be shortened.
But I'm pretty sure that limit has been lifted, since IMAX theaters and IMAX presentations of major movies have proliferated.
On the other hand, Bay's "Director's cut" of Pearl Harbor had more footage, but trimmed some of the silier stuff and extraneous stuff from the original cut. So, who knows...
