Update: ''Transformers'' 2 Waiting Out 6/2008 Strike?
By bwbm on Monday, September 10, 2007
"Transformers" producer Don Murphy is suggesting in a recent message on his message boards that the quiet regarding a sequel to the summer blockbuster "Transformers" is due to the possibility of a strike in June 2008, which is a triple-threat of the screenwriters, actors, and directors. Whether or not a strike happens is unknown, but Mr. Murphy explains why the studio is waiting it out. "[S]ince no one wants to be filming IF a strike happens, everything needs to be done filming by the end of May 2008," he writes. "So this is affecting the lack of news about Transformers 2 at least for now." Note: This article originally specifically called out the screenwriters strike when in fact it is a three-sided threat. Read the article for details.

Michael Bay called him out. Don Murphy knows nothing.

There is a big strike looming.
The SAG strike in ?2000? basically shut down the town for around six months. I was there and NOT WORKING because of it. In fact I never managed to get back the commercial work I'd been primarily doing before the strike.
These things get really ugly when they actually happen (there is generally a big effort to avoid the strikes), so the studios ARE rushing movies through and not starting anything that won't be done in time yet. There's no reason why TFormers would be any different.

Thanks Primus!
That was a good read. Interesting. However that predates the release of the movie and has nothing to do with the progress of the current film (unless this means he won't be returning as a producer, and chances are he will).
Either way, the strike threat is very real and very relevant to how soon people get serious about TFormers 2. I'm not personally aware of specific reasons that the impending strike would stop anyone from penning the script right now (although there might be). Other than that I'm sure they will wait until the strike issue is worked out to do any serious work on it.
Very interesting read though.

if they are going to rush things through TF2 is going to suck even more than TF1.because their going to get slopy which means shitty TF dialog, shaky camra and a crap-tacular stoy.
it is most lickly they are going to push this movie back to 2009-2010
