More Original G1 Comic Art by Andrew Wildman For Auction

By MISP Steve on Thursday, November 05, 2009

Andrew Wildman has updated his Wildwords BLOG with yet another auction. This time for his original Transformers issue #74 comic book artwork. This one is really sweet with Optimus Prime and Scorponok fighting side by side against the horde of Unicron followers. The art work is just amazing with a gaggle of elfish looking Unicron's overwhelming Prime and Scorpy.

Even cooler, Wildman is including the original Marvel envelope that has a curious item inside, the UPS artwork for the 2nd cover. His BLOG explains:
"Also with this one is an additional goodie. Stuck on the back of the art is a Marvel Comics branded envelope. Inside said envelope is the UPS artwork...

‘Whats that Andrew?’ well, you may know that Marvel did (may still do) two versions of their books. One was for newstand sales and one was for direct sales (through comic shops). The one that sold through newstands has a UPC barcode in a little box in the bottom left corner. This is what gets scanned when you buy it and helps the shop’s stock control system. The ones that go to Direct Sales comic shops don’t have this. In that box they stick a small advert or some other such Marvel related info. The one here is promoting 50 years of Marvel. The bit of art is stuck on a photocopy of the cover to show positioning."

According to the BLOG the auction the goes live at 11pm tonight. If you missed his 11/2 BLOG, the sale is to raise funds for Andrew's cat Pablo. He's got a hefty vet bill to pay after he was hit by a car. Please see it in your heart to bid on this auction. You're not only getting a piece of Transformers history, you're helping Pablo and Andrew too. Check out his blog for all the details and link to his eBay auction at wildwords.wordpress.com.
