IDW Editor Andy Schmidt Talks Transformers #1 Details

Following up on the yesterday's Transformers #1 teaser and spoiler for those who read it. Comic Book Resources has posted an interview with IDW editor Andy Schmidt who talks about some of the decisions they made for the story and how to handle certain events. Citing they had to think a lot of it through and even get the sign off from Hasbro on certain elements. We're not letting on what's happening, read the article at Comic Book Resources.

They're trying to give them mechanized mouths... but it just looks like some one ripped all the skin of a human face from the nose down and then cut off the eyelids.

I need to agree this new art style is bad. They remind me of Gundam Bodies with parts of cars added to them. The faces are terrible.

The art quality's fine, it's the character designs that are awful. That Bumblebee thumbnail is the stuff of nightmares. I'm glad I didn't see those soulless eyes before I went to bed . . . brrrrr. Bumblebee is supposed to be friendly-looking - this is a monstrous parody of that. Th... read more

I really didn't like the art style they were doing for this but i thought i would give it a shot, however, you know a series isn't going your way when they kill off your favorite character in the first issue.

I agree, I am not diggin what I've seen so far. Dons art is crap now. did he have a stroke or something? The last work that I've enjoyed of his was the beast wars series. After this series fails in about 3 issues or so, hopefully IDW wises up and tells him to fix his style.
