Takara Designer Hints at Next Transformers Masterpiece Action Figure

By deceptikhan on Tuesday, November 24, 2009

Well for those that said Buster Prime looks of masterpice quality, its probably b/c he was MADE by the guy in charge of all MP's except MP-03. Here is a translation of the Buster Prime interview with designer Hirinori Kobayashi. He mentions why they made EZ collections Devastator.

He also mentions a little hint about the NEXT Masterpiece
Hirinori Kobayashi came up with the idea of Buster Optimus Prime and designed the muffler > gun transformation. It was also difficult to recreate the exact hue of purplish blue with the plastic, which he considers as more film accurate.

He belongs to domestic product team, and for ROTF he has been mainly responsible for some modifications of the products aimed at Japanese release.

He explains the reason of developing EZ Devastator as, "While RD-16 Devastator is impressively huge, its strength is in gimmicks. I thought Japanese TF fans might not be satisfied with it, since even 25 years old (G1) item achieved Robot > Vehicle > Combine modes."

He was in charge of all Masterpiece products, except for MP-3. He again hints of the new MP next year 2010, which has a significance to Transformers. ("2010" is s Japanese title for G1 season 3.)

One of his favourite (of the products he developed) is Rescue Hero Gobots Chopper!

Not Hot Rod, Rodimus Prime though. Im guessing that IS teh next Masterpiece. And im actually excited for it, i hope Hasbro can bring it over just as fast. I highly doubt they will release another Prime repaint after JUST doing that with MP-01b.

I'll bet the next MP will be Hot Rod, and then FansProject will make a trailer that turns it into Rodimus. Or maybe they will re-re-re-re release Optimus in Blue and Black and call it the Magnus Movie Version - Diaclone. I intend to custom paint a MP Prime these colors anyway so it's not s... read more

As I said in the MP-01b thread, i noticed Rodimus Prime on his arm comm, and thagt inclines me to believe that it IS Rodimus Prime. Which, lets be honest, would be friggin awesome! I was one of the few back in the day to actually LIKE Rodimus Prime and when my Optimus toy broke, i replaced him w... read more

If TT can't get Rodimus where he could go pre-Prime and Prime, I think I'd still get him if they make him true-ish to his animation model's transformation (link) but with that said, I'm hoping for Galvatron, more.

Probably unlikely, but you never know.. MP Unicron would be freakin' AMAZING.. Maybe they have been working on it in secret for a few years to prepare for a 2010 release? That would be nice lolz.

I would hate to see Bumblebee in that size. It'll be a Unicron nightmare all over again. But since that's the only evidence we have to go on right now, maybe Rodimus will make an appearance.

If it's between Galvatron and Rodimus Prime, which it probably would be, I hope it's Galvatron. There's speculation that because the new pics of MP-1B shows Convoy and Rodimus Prime in his communicators, the next MP will probably be Rodimus Prime. Supposedly in past MP Convoy releases,... read more

Personally I'd love either Rodimus Prime or Galvatron as a tribute to 2010 (season 3). Both have awesome designs and are among the most popular TF's of all time. Not real thilled about Hot Rod as an idea though, I always thought that he was just another kid bot like Cheetor and Bluestreak, b... read more
