ILM To Tweak the Looks of Prime & Bumblebee for Transformers 3

Optimus Prime and Bumblebee for Transformers 3 will be receiving some updates here and there, says the team over at Industrial Light and Magic. Speaking with SciFi Wire, Scott Benza, animation supervisor says that Bumblebee has matured a bit since we last saw him, so some "subtle changes to his physique" will be made that make him "look more mature."

Meanwhile, Scott Farrar, the visual effects supervisor, says that Optimus Prime's updates will be more easter egg-like and will only be noticeable by the fans.

"You actually will run into pieces that are maybe always in the way, and wouldn't it be nice if that part wasn't there?" Mr. Farrar continues, "Maybe you make a shift in the shoulder, in the chest or what have you. So it might be proportioning, but it also might be for usability, so [the animators]' task could be easier, too."

Mr. Benza adds that his update will look "badass." "We always want the robots to look cooler than they did the last time," he says, "so he's going to look a little more heroic, I would say."

When asked about whether or not they are developing new Transformers that will be in the film, Mr. Farrar admits they are and they will be cooler than Skids and Mudflap.

Status of the Script
While the script is not quite finished, the outline and most of the script is done, says Mr. Farrar. They have not seen all the script, but pieces of it are obviously in there hands for animation purposes.
