UPDATE: We received an email from the folks at Activision today denying the reports from Ausgammers about the voice actors for "War For Cybertron.":
We just wanted to let you know that the rumors regarding the voice actors in Transformers: War for Cybertron is false. We will be providing additional information on voice actors soon. The only confirmed voice actor is Peter Cullen at this time.
It is being reported by the site
Ausgamers that several voice actors have been announced for Activision's upcoming
Transformers: War For Cybertron video game. It comes as no surprise that
Peter Cullen will be returning to do the voice of
Optimus Prime while
Megatron will be voiced by
James Remar and
Doug Parker will be doing the voice of
Starscream.
What does come as a bit of a surprise is that it appears Star Trek legend
Leonard Nimoy who voiced the character of
Galvatron in the original 80's Transformers Animated movie will be returning to the world of Transformers to voice the character of
Zeta Prime in this game.
Mr. Nimoy is no stranger to doing video game voice acting either, as he recently reprised his role as Spock for the new MMO,
Star Trek Online.
Transformers: War for Cybertron features two distinct storylines: the AUTOBOT campaign tells a story of heroism to save their home planet against overwhelming odds, and the DECEPTICON campaign tells a story of an unquenchable thirst for power to control the universe. For the first time in a TRANSFORMERS title, fans will be able to play the game with their friends through team-based online co-op, or go head to head in a variety of intense, online multiplayer game modes. The game features a sci-fi art style that introduces to fans the entire living, metallic world of CYBERTRON, as well as all-new visualizations of the iconic TRANSFORMERS characters in their original Cybertronian forms. Transformers: War for Cybertron is in development for Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii and Nintendo DS.
