I just rewatched The Gambler, and I didn't see Devcon as the happy fun guy you protrayed. He did seem pleased once when he first saw a fellow Autobot, after that he was the serious bounty hunter.

Also, perhaps you are suffering from an over estimate of Boba Fett's bad-ass-ness, much like you accuse people of over estimating Devcon. Check out what Boba does in his spare time when not "bounty hunting".

Yeah, we're well aware of his Wreckers appearances, we were talking more about the old ATT and irc days when Devcon was said to be this big bad ass guy. Prior to the comics, in fact, what inspired the comic Devcon role.

Exactly. This is all directly due to the fan ejaculation.

Oh, on the subject of Devcon - you have to remember that after his SINGLE appearance in the TV show, he went on to appear in comics from 3H and Fun Publications, as well as text stories from Fun Pub. He was more of a bad ass in those, and those stories outnumber his one single original animated appearance.

For instance there was the time he beat half the Wreckers crew senseless when his mistook them for Vehicons after he escaped Megatron:

There was the time he went after Cyclonus by himself in the comics.

There was the time he joined up with the Dinobots to go kick some Quintesson behind too.

They gave him great lines in Fun Pub's text stories too, like:

"You can polish slag all you want, Con, youre still slag! Devcon snarled, blasting a drone-rocket out of the air before leaping away to avoid a cluster bomb."

and

"Cyclonus is dead, Cryoteks gone and Im not even getting paid for this slag. Im out."

Oh...my bad, I misunderstood your point. I wasn't trying to be a douche.

Scaleface - 2010-04-15 @ 1:25 am

I think you got my point. The yellow ranger being Asian was the only one NOT changed.

bwbm - 2010-04-15 @ 12:02 am

Weren't all of the people who played in the Japanese MMPR Japanese?

Scaleface - 2010-04-14 @ 10:13 pm

I was screaming when Rob just couldn't pull through that pertinent MMPR news - get it together, man!

And seriously, the first gen characters where the most cliched ever in terms of colors. An Asian in Yellow...

Yes, but in the original Japanese of each series EVERY yellow ranger is played by an Asian person - so it's at least it's consistant with the source material. It's the other Rangers who were changed. Also, the original pinks were female, so they had to have females in the US otherwise it would look weird that these men were so girly when they put their masks on.

And now a moment of Pink Ranger appreciation:

Oh, that guy voicing Bumblebee in WFC is the second Black Ranger here:

Of course all I think of for a "Yellow Ranger" is Cowboy the slow thinking weapons expert.

It's cool.

bwbm - 2010-04-14 @ 4:08 pm

mmm..it was somebody else then...I'm awful at associating just voices of people I've never met before.

My bad!
