War for Cybertron Multiplayer Game Modes Revealed; Info on TF Customization

The Tformers office received their copy of the May issue of Game Informer today, which features a preview of the Transformers: War for Cybertron video game.

The preview that the magazine received is not much different than what we saw last month, except they got "limited hands-on" time.

However, Game Informer does reveal some of the multiplayer gameplay modes, including deathmatch, team deathmatch, Power Struggle (capture the flag), and Code of Power.

Code of Power

The first game modes are standard shooter multiplayer modes, but the magazine spotlights Code of Power, in which they describe as a "standout mode," where teams fight for two and a half minutes in the attempt to obtain a large melee weapon for their group.

From what the article specifies, High Moon Studios isn't quite done yet with the multiplayer modes, as they promise to announce more modes quite soon.

Custom Transformers

As has been reported before, players will be able to customize their own Transformers by choosing a class, chassis, color, weapons, and special abilities. It seems as if each class is tied to a vehicle -- scout (car), leader (truck), scientist (jet), or soldier (tank) -- although this does not apply to already-existing characters.

Players may then choose to outfit three upgrade slots with one of six upgrades, classified as either offensive, defensive, or general. While general upgrades are available for all four classes, the offensive and defensive ones belong to a specific class.

It is easy to see that these type of upgrade slots are modeled after the immensely popular Call of Duty: Modern Warfare franchise, and just like that game, as players level up his/her character, s/he is able to unlock new upgrades and abilities. The additional information about the multiplayer modes definitely add a lot more playability to the video game that already has high hopes for gamers and Transformers fans alike. As more information comes out, we can say that this game seems to be getting better and better.

The May issue of Game Informer is available now at your local Game Stop magazine rack.
