20th Anniversary Optimus Prime Update

Ever since the prototype pictures of the upcoming 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime figure first appeared here last weekend, excitement about this figure has continued to grow.

This past weekend at the 2003 Transformers Collectors Convention, in Chicago, Illinois. Hasbro announced that this figure was created in a joint venture between Hasbro and Takara to commemorate the Transformers 20th Anniversary. The figure will be sold here in the U.S.A. and overseas in Japan. Fans can expect the figure to retail for around $75.00 and is scheduled for to be released late Winter of 2003.

During the panel, Hasbro informed us the 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime figure will include the following features:

- Die cast parts (both USA and Japan versions)
- Rubber Wheels
- Light Up Chest
- Spring Loaded Suspension
- A Removable Matrix
- Wrist Communication Screen
- Detachable Hands
- Extensive Articulation.
- Gun-Mode Megatron Weapon
- Detachable Fusion Ax Weapon
- Fusion Cannon Weapon

Hasbro also answered the question every one has been asking about. Will there be a trailer released with this figure? The answer is no. It will not. Stating that with the extensive articulation of the figure, it will allow for lots of different poses that will more than make up for the absence of one.

NOTE: The final released version may vary from pictures shown here.
