Ugh.
The more I see, the less I like it. So, not only does it look like a megazord, it's also colored like one, plus it's got numbers on the vehicles... just like a megazord! It's a damned Power Rangers Robot, with the gimpiest Prime since Machine Wars for a torso.
Obviously Hasbro is once again desperate to make the line successful by cashing in on someone else's idea. First the PokeCons, now this.
I repeat, ugh.

By the way, I do think Prime isn't a megazord at all, he's more like something from the Brave line... It kinda reminds me of it...

I was cracking jokes a month ago with a my friends, that Energon Optimus Prime was the love child of the orginal Optimus Primal and God Ginrai, which has curlers for a head design.
Maybe TAKARA's watching too many GAOGAIGAR episodes or Hasbro's been planning to compete against Voltron?

seems to me that poor old Prime is just getting worse and worse on design. maybe it is more like a roller coaster. There have been a few good primes like Fire Convoy for example. But then there are the black sheep of primes like Armada prime or now POWER RANGER/VOLTRON PRIME. What were the designers thinking the power ranger 5 megazord to big megazord ideal is and always was stupid. THey turned a timeless character is all of sci-fi and just flipped him all aroud into some pathetic excuse for a transformer hell he doesn't even look stock would you really see that on the road. Selling this Prime for $49.99 is a STEAL! He should cost $39.99. I mean just look at him: Okay, first of all, the cab looks like crap. It leaves a lot to be desired. The cockpit is as flat as a pancake. The back of the cab where the arms are exposed is crooked. I think Hasbro should have excluded the matrix compartment and thus made the cockpit sharper like in the image that shows Energon Prime and a possible Arcee release.
The Optimus Prime robot that u get by transforming the cab looks like an obese Prime. To make it worse, it looks like he's smiling. Hasbro messed up the mouthplate. Ugh! What an ugly optimus. He looks fat and very chunky. I'll call him Chunky Chicken Prime!
As for the big robot (prime combined with the vehicles), it looks okay. The problem is he's got zero weapons. One missile launcher is not enough. Hasbro is getting too cheap!
The worst thing about this toy is that it looks BOOTLEG. The OP vehicles look so damn cheap. They need a more detailed paintjob. The treads in the yellow tank aren't even fully painted!
As for Prime's trailer, it kicks ass! I love the futuristic style! The tower thing is marvelous. I love how it stores the 4 vehicles. What I love most about Energon Prime is this: He's got a submarine for finding Energon underwater. He's got a drilling tank for unearthing Energon undergound. He's got a helicopter for locating Energon in the sky/stratosphere. And finally, he's got a fire truck for getting Energon from perhaps a volcano, lava, or extinguishing a wildfire caused by the Decepticons and Omnicons. It's nice to see Prime being concerned about nature. Nice job, Hasbro.
Overall, I'm gonna get this Prime even though the effort put into him sucks so bad that I feel like vomitting. But what the heck. Oh and another thing, why the heck does Optimus have two Autobot insignias on both of his shoulders? Isn't one enough! And he's got a mega-huge one in the back of his trailer. When I saw the Autobot insignia

As a result, I don't mind Energon Prime too much. OK, the blue arm is complete rubbish with it's TINY hand. I do definately see why people hate this figure, it doesn't have a lot going for it. But unfortunately, I've always been a sucker for gestalts of any sort. I think that's why I like the Zords. I hate every other aspect of Power Rangers, but I like the zords. It's not the worst Prime ever. That title goes to the crappy Universe Prime. Come on! The Car Robots/RiD mold was FANTASTIC. I love Fire Convoy, but now he's barf yellow. To those who don't like Prime and Energon, ignore them and pay attention to the true greatness of Masterpiece Convoy and the BinalTech line. Now THERE are some real Transformers! The first ever as they actually transform into actual vehicles with high detail. This is a line that no TransFan worth his Energon cubes can hate.

First let me start by saying I have been a fan of transformers for years and have followed through all of the toy lines. I think that this toy isn't too bad, I kind of like the idea. The color scheme works form me after all the original prime was blue and red while white was added for ultramagnus. The only color I don't like is the yellow should of kept it as the same color as the other leg. At least the combined from offers some articulation unlike zoids and voltron. Also I don't think the figure is that disproprtioned after all you are looking at a scanned picture that is shot from above so yeah it is going to look sort of funny. Last thing, we have seen combining primes before-power master, RID, armada, and so on so this isn't really new territroy, oh yeah and who can forget roller which is what the four vechiles remind me of. So all in all I don't think this is too far fetched

In all actuality, I've come to look forward to his release because despite the beer-belly and Megazord stigma following him around, he actually looks pretty cool and if he's as poseable as I pray then he's easily worth the money. My only problem to this day is that eyesore of a trailer, other than that he's got some nice innovation behind him and doesn't have that horrifying lack of articulation or that ugly gap in his super mode back like Armada Prime does.

Here's an idea for free Hasbro, take the hint go bakc to letting your Japanese counterparts in Takara design and make Transformers from now on, unlike you they can still make kick ass designs *cough* CAR ROBOTS *cough*
Hasbro you stick to trying to make a decent cartoon insted of letting the Japanese write wack TF cartoon series's all the time and let Takara design and build the toys.
oh and hire a decent Animation studio and decent recording studio for the voice acting both Armada and RID's voice acting just plain sucks, and Armada's animation sucked big time, go hire Dong Woo Animation in Korea, they've done a kick ass job at the new masters of the universe, which is far more enjoyable than your stinking Armada series.

wow.. and I used to think I was the only one who felt the newer Transfomer toys were getting cheaper in quality..
My two cents...
Personally, if this toy promised to be made partially out of metal and have real rubber tires,(same ones used in G1) and applicable stickers (like G1) I'd probably buy it. Its fun adding those cool metalic stickers. The now painted versions look...generic almost.
I've seen the Armada Prime and thought...hmmm ... Fisher Price......
The structures of these toys are a bit....well..weird looking.
I mean, i remember liking TF because they transfomed into real things to conceal their identity such as "real" cars, tape recorders, guns and such.
Now they just transform into what seems to me, jibberish elaborate nonsense (overload).
The only new TF toys I bought that i felt still had some coolness to them, were the japanese versions of Build King, God Magnus and that bullet train set of 3. But the rest... sweet geezuz.
No more metal part other than screws, and no more soft rubber tires which gave that brand new smell we all know and loved when opening a fresh box of a G1 transfomer toy.
...I dont know, ... these new TF toys look a bit stupid and sucky to me. But in their defense..I am 25. Even as a comic book artist...i just cant accept the new ones. Too difficult. Id rather buy a Megazord. lol.

The actual Optimus in it is OK, but not great by any stretch of the imagination. The smaller Armada Prime is much nicer looking and much better engineered. FireConvoy even hangs behind BigConvoy and PowerMaster Prime in my opinion. This Energon Priome looks alright... not great, but at least it's supposed to be a semi of some sort, not a fire truck or large mammal. In my opinion there have been precious few "good" Primes that have been made over the years, and certainly not a single one of them has a "beast" mode.
