After the awesome Transmetals II treatment. Anything less was going to look puny, spindly, and pretty much boring. The BM Deluxe Optimus Primal offered in Wave 1 was just that. Nicely articulated with cool light-piping. BUT, it didn't look much like the show character. Overly blue, and both of the head sculpts missed the mark on show accuracy. Which, is what makes this week' feature an interesting specimen as it was a Knockoff (KO) that managed get the faces right.
User Starscream on Weibo has posted some interesting images! It seems coming to the Platinum line in the near future to observe the Year of The Monkey will be a red and blue recolor of Beast Machines/RID 2001 Air Attack Optimus Primal. For now we have only very low resolution shots of this figure, but more will probably come fairly soon. Seen also with it is a variant Autobot symbol incorporating a primate face in the center to top things off. Click through to see all three images.

This fall, fans of the highly popular TRANSFORMERS classic animated adventures can relive the high-octane action of OPTIMUS PRIMAL and the MAXIMALS through the complete series release of TRANSFORMERS: BEAST MACHINES. In 1999, TRANSFORMERS fans and kids were introduced to the television series TRANSFORMERS: BEAST MACHINES. This is the unforgettable chapter which OPTIMUS PRIMAL and his legions of MAXIMALS must battle the powerful MEGATRON and his new army of VEHICONS.
Thanks to the Transformers collectors site Robot Points who have share some of the history and mystery behind the Beast Machines / RiD Megabolt Megatron: Concept and the evolution of this very unique figure. Fans of Beast Machines remember the pleasure of finding out about the new Megabolt figure that was announced by Hasbro only the followed by the pain of the cancellation at the end of the series. Luckily, it was subsequently released in the following Rotbots in Disguise series. What a lot of us didn't know was there were two designs on this figure.
