Boulder Media Hiring For 1st CGI Animated Film Produced Entirely In Ireland Based On 'Very Well-Known Hasbro Property'
RAC - Sunday, July 30, 2017

Boulder Media has posted a job listing a 3D CG Supervisor for an unspecified animated movie. A subsidiary of Hasbro Entertainment, up to now Boulder has largely worked in the television field. But it appears they're gearing up for a movie, which they say will be the first produced entirely in Ireland. So, what's the property? They don't say, but it's listed as a "very well-known Hasbro property." There's quite a few of those... but about two years ago we did get some news that may tie into this. Keep reading for details! Back in September 2015, it was reported that writers Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, of Ant-Man fame, would be working on a CGI movie elaborating on the origins of the Transformers on Cybertron. We've heard nothing since... but it seems that has nothing to do with the Bumblebee movie, as they aren't credited for it. So it's possible, especially in the wake of Transformers: The Last Knight's weaker-than-expected performance, that the big-budget live-action films get a break and we get the Cybertron movie after Bumblebee.

This is all speculation of course, but what is real is that if you have a whole bunch of animation experience, Boulder may want you. Here's the listing!

As part of Hasbro Entertainment, Boulder Media is building a new feature animation division. We are excited to offer a talented 3D CG Supervisor the opportunity to join our very successful and established animation studio as we expand into a new area. We will be producing the first 3D CG theatrical feature film made entirely in Ireland. The movie is based on a very well-known Hasbro property and we can’t wait to bring it to the big screen for the first time.

The 3D CG Supervisor will play a vital role in building the new studio pipeline along with the rest of the team.

The 3D CG Supervisor will bring their expertise to the technical aspects of the project while working in collaboration with the production team. As such, they serve as a key member of the project’s leadership team and help define Boulder’s pipeline. At the beginning, you will have an important role in the look development, raising the quality while ensuring the assigned areas of production have sufficient technical, capital and human resources to meet the deadline.
Responsibilities

Determine technical approaches needed to achieve desired look and behaviors for the production.
Maintain an up to date understanding of industry best practices.
Design and maintain the pipeline workflow with the dept. supervisors, production and technology teams.
Give clear instructions to each department and set objectives while monitoring the production process, progress and results.
Drive production meetings and assist in client meetings.
Ready, willing and able to answer any questions from the production team.
Identify and eliminate potential pipeline problems before they affect production.

Requirements:

Minimum five years as a Technical Supervisor in feature animation or visual Effects.
Extensive understanding of Maya and production tracking software.
Thorough understanding of the various technical, pipeline and creative aspects for CG animation.
A proven leader in setting direction for a production and for inspiring and motivating production staff.
Knowledge of the post production process.
Bonus: Experience working with PBR rendering.
Bonus: Software development experience.
Bonus: Familiar working in a Linux environment.

Boulder Media is an equal opportunities employer.

Man, if you're going to leak, LEAK. Don't be cute about it, it's annoying. TF-factory, the usual Weibo leaker, has struck again. Today's first round of leaks revolves around the Studio Series, the movie line expected to start somewhere around next April. We have new package images for Brawl, Optimus Prime, and Starscream - though the latter two have been both pixelated AND had their contents scribbled over - and a piece of artwork for Starscream. Click through to see.
Happy Weibo Leak Day, I guess? The same Weibo source that brought us the image of the box back panel now has posted images of the upcoming Movie Series Blackout and its accessory Scorponok! The figure is quite impressive looking, and as we learned from the packaging already, boasts a 46-step transformation. Keep reading to see!
Next up on the leaks from Weibo users this morning, "tf-factory" has also dropped package-back images of Leader Brawl and Megatron from the upcoming movie line! ...but, they've been marked through. Either someone's being an extra-clever leaker, or Hasbro has gone very effectively low-tech in their leak prevention efforts! But if you'd like an unobstructed view of an as-yet unreleased figure we've also mirrored images of Authentics Grimlock here. Keep reading!
A user on Weibo has shared out a partial image of the back of box for an upcoming Blackout toy. What is presumed to be a Leader Class figure from the recently-named 'Studio Series' lineup as revealed via Toys R Us inventory data can be seen (in typical CG render style) in both robot and vehicle modes, and includes a small scorpion mode Scorponok partner figure just as the original Voyager Class Blackout did way back in the 2007 movie line. Little specifics can be discerned, but we do get to see the call-out for a 46 step transformation process, to which we can say only: Yikes! Click through to view the full size image.
The 4K UHD release the first four Transformers films: TRANSFORMERS, TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN, TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON and TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION, which will be released on December 5th (TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT is available now on 4K UHD). All releases come in a 3-disc 4K UHD/Blu-ray Combo Pack with Digital copy.
