Thanks to a new Amazon listing we have word and details of new five volume boxed set of books that will take on the epic search for the Knight of Cybertron. A mythical group that existed on the planet Cybertron. In the present day, they have disappeared, leaving little trace of their existence behind. This story was written in the short gap between the release of the 1986 toys, but before the release of the Transformers 1986 movie. The writers wanted to add in all the characters introduced in the film, but didn't know the plot of the film yet.. so they just read the tech specs for the characters and made something up.

In this story the Autobots attempt to harness the power of a lightning storm, but the Decepticons can't be far behind can they? Art in this book is done by Mike Collins (Marvel Comics artist) and Mark Farmer (Marvel and DC comic artist).
Via Autobase Aichi, we've learned that the website animeanime.jp has posted sample images of the Transformers Masterpiece Official Guide. The pages show Ultra Magnus, Bluestreak, Wheeljack, and a cameo by Bumblebee, but the most time in this set of samples is devoted to Masterpiece Sideswipe, who is covered extensively with official photos and design sketches. This book starts to work in some of the season 2 characters, with Blaster appearing on the inside cover, Skyfire fighting the Decepticon jets, and a super rare appearance of the Deluxe Insecticons as villians!
Autobase Aichi has posted a description of the upcoming Transformers Masterpiece Official Guide, as well as a link to the cover image. The book is due for release in Japan in August and will run 3024 Yen (about USD $30), and will feature extensive photographs of all Masterpiece releases as well as previously unreleased sketches and interviews with the designers. Autobase Aichi reports that Amazon Japan has made a listing for a "Transformers Masterpiece Official Guide," a 96-page softcover guidebook costing 3024 Yen. Autobase Aichi also suggests the book is due for release on July 30th. No other information is known except that the publisher is one "Village Book," and thus the book will not be a part of Million Publishing's Generations line of guidebooks.
