The TFWiki has tweeted an image and link to a new trademark filing with the US Patent Office. The trademark? "HasCon" - which of course would be a useful name for a convention dedicated to all Hasbro products, not just Transformers. The trademark was filed just 6 days ago, right after BotCon, which also amounts to some interesting timing? What does it all mean, and does this mean that the CybertronCon name is no longer in consideration? No way to tell yet, but keep reading to see the details of the filing.
While at Botcon we naturally spent as much time as we could spare down at the Hasbro booth to see all the fantastic new and upcoming toys to look forward to. Besides snapping hundreds of photos of all the displays over the course of the weekend, we did a set of display case overview videos as well. The displays were split in two groups, one featuring Titans Return and Platinum, the other Robots in Disguise and licensed merchandise, with Combiner Wars crossing between both. We've split the videos accordingly, and you can watch both embedded below right now!
This week on Radio Free Cybertron: We all have the convention crud, except for Brian. Those of who can chat about the week's news, the toys we purchased, our favorite panels, our favorite memories and all the awesome people we got to meet at the LAST Botcon! Oh, we also talk about Masterpiece Shockwave, Masterpiece Ramjet, Computron, Liokaiser and tons more!
We were on hand for "BotCon Over The Years," the last panel of the last BotCon! Pete Sinclair led the presentation, reminiscing through his personal collection of BotCon photos and asking fans to share their own stories about the 22-year history of the social core of the Transformers fandom as it came to a close. Keep reading for details!
The third annual BotCon panel featuring artist Hayato Sakamoto was held on Sunday, where he showed off some of his recent work along with notes on his artistic process and his approach to continuity in his work for Takara. Want to know why Legends Ultra Magnus came with a tiny Alpha Trion and why recent More Than Meets The Eye monster of the week Sunder looked like he did? Keep reading to see!
This year, Botcon attendees had a chance to purchase a sticker sheet to upgrade retail Combiner Wars Silverbolt, Prowl, and Ironhide so they could form a Magnaboss combiner along with Tigatron and Unit-3. Fun Publications has announced today that another run of those stickers will be happening for anyone who missed out. Plus, the Rubber Duckie souvenir item will also be produced again, and both should be available on the club store next week. They also added a reminder that the stickers include eyes for TM3 Megatron's dragon mode and provided a picture, which you can see below!
This week on Radio Free Cybertron: Recorded live at the last Botcon! The guys talk about all of the announcements, rumors and controversies coming out of Botcon 2016! Overlord, Computron, new Titanmasters, and more!
The last of our photos of the Melllvarr Collection finish off the Dawn of the Predacus Boxset. Ravage and Tarantulas are the non-red parts of the combiner Predacus, who we show off in both Red Arm and Red Leg configuration! Keep reading to see the rest of the BotCon 2016 boxset, and join us in thanking RFC's Matt for making these galleries possible!
Since seeing the first packaged samples of Titans Return products at Toy Fair this year, one lingering question has been presented: Where are the comic books? You may recall last year that the initial wave of Combiner Wars product did not feature comics, because an international packaging variant was used to move product to shelves more quickly. But we weren't sure if this was the case for Titans Return. During the course of Botcon 2016 I had the chance to ask Hasbro's reps, and you can keep reading to find out their answer!
Thanks again to Matt/Melllvarr from Radio Free Cybertron for the loan of his BotCon 2016 souvenir figures! Next on the list of still photo galleries is the first half of the Dawn of the Predacus boxset, the Tripredacus Council itself! Ramhorn, Cicadacon, and Sea Clamp are remolds and recolors of Brawl, Skydive, and Scattershot respectively. They're very, very read - keep reading to see just how red!
For everyone who couldn't make Botcon 2016 this year - or for anyone who did and wants a second look - we have the full presentation of the Hasbro Product Preview Panel here for your enjoyment. During this panel we saw upcoming items from Robots in Disguise, Combiner Wars, and of course Titans Return, plus a bit more. Most everything shown went in the display cases right after, but you should watch until the end, since one special teaser was snuck in that we may not see again for a while. Click through for the embedded video!
Once again this year, I had the opportunity to chat with John Warden and Ben Montano from the Hasbro Transformers team and pick their brains about both the newly revealed things this weekend, but also burning questions that we've been saving up for just such an occasion! We'd like to extend a huge thanks to the guys from Hasbro for taking time to talk with us both on-and-off camera this weekend at Botcon! And you can click the title link now to check out our interview video embedded below.

Just before the doors closed on this year's Botcon, the TFCC display case was updated one last time to show the Transformers side of the upcoming club exclusive GI Joe crossover set. The clear Legends Class Megatron in G2 colors as a holographic projection, and Masterpiece Ratbat are both Marvel comics tributes, especially reflected in Ratbat's deco. Also seen were late stage samples of Ramjet and Skywarp, giving us good close looks atg the head remold. Keep reading and check them out!
RAC caught the first (and, by necessity, only) appearance of Judd Nelson at BotCon! The original voice of Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime had kind words for Transformers and the fandom as well as reflections on the nature of voice acting versus other formats - and some insight as to why he took the role of Hot Rod in the first place. Keep reading for highlights from the panel!
