Conventions Center Rumors

Transformers@TheMoon, which tracks Hasbro trademarks likely to be Transformers-related, has posted the specifics of a recent Hasbro filing with the US Patent Office. The filing, specified for being related to conventions and related entertainmnent uses, is for the phrase "The Premier Hasbro Fanmily Event." Keep reading for more speculation and info on this filing and details on the trademark itself!

The TFWiki has tweeted an image and link to a new trademark filing with the US Patent Office. The trademark? "HasCon" - which of course would be a useful name for a convention dedicated to all Hasbro products, not just Transformers. The trademark was filed just 6 days ago, right after BotCon, which also amounts to some interesting timing? What does it all mean, and does this mean that the CybertronCon name is no longer in consideration? No way to tell yet, but keep reading to see the details of the filing.

Seibertron has posted a note from the Transformer Collector's Club's Brian Savage, wishing everyone a happy holiday and announcing that BotCon 2016 registration will begin in January. So if you've been holding back that money just in case the registration went live around the holidays, go get your kids a couple more presents and keep reading to see the announcement!

The trademark-watchers over at Transformers@The Moon have posted a curious piece of news this morning: Hasbro has filed a trademark with the US Patent Office for the name "Cybertron Con," which is the name of the official Transformers convention in Asia. It's far too early to tell whether this means a name change for BotCon, a new convention, or simply a "defensive" trademark so no fan group can take it in the US, but at any rate, it's an interesting development! Keep reading for a link to the original story.

TaoBao member Toad Digital has put up two new auctions showing off never-before-seen figures, which are BotCon 2010 exclusives. One of the figures is a repaint of Transformers Energon Scorponok, which was previously rumored to hit the streets. The second figure is a blue repaint of Energon Downshift. With BotCon happening this week, we will be sure to find out of these figures are exclusives quite soon! Take a look at the figures still within their plastic wrappings after the jump.

We have recieved word that the Transformers Collectors Club will be releasing two new exclusive figures as part of the 2005 offerings. Word is one of the items offered is a repainted and remolded Energon Scorponok that looks like Black Zarak. Stay tuned - we will have more information to post about this soon.

Rodimus Prime sends us an interesting rumor about Unicron at OTFCC: This info was passed along to me by a dealer at OTFCC from a Hasbro rep he personally knows. All I can say is he is a dealer who's been to Botcon many times and has only missed a few shows due to medical problems. If I told you who it was 3H would probably ban him from future shows. Unicron will be released at OTFCC and sold by Hasbro themselves for $49.99 plus tax. Read more HERE.
