has announced that the TFNation exclusive Transformers Animated
graphic novel, "Trial and Error," is now preparing to ship its eagerly-awaited second printing! The book - sold at UK convention TFNation in limited quantities, is written by McFeely with Jim Sorenson and features art by Ed Pirrie, Gavin Spence, and @Herzspalter, coloring and designs by Josh Perez and lettering by Andrew Turnbull. In a bit of a blast from the past, The Allspark has today released a copy they've obtained of an early iteration of the series bible for Transformers Animated
. The document is dated to late March of 2006, almost two years before the series debuted on Cartoon Network. Cntaining a lot of development notes, plus some episode outlines and various stages of character concept art, it's a very interesting read. It's available to download as a PDF, and you can find the link to that below!
Congratulations to actor Jeff Bennett! Bennett, who has been providing Transformers voices since the days of Animated, has won a Creative Arts Emmy for his work on Rescue Bots! Awarded Best Performer in an Animated Program, Bennett takes home the only Emmy of the categories Transformers was nominated for. Hasbro ended its agreements with Netflix recently, resulting in multiple series no longer being available for legal on-demand viewing. We have good news this weekend as some of the affected Transformers shows have found a new home. TubiTV now houses the G1 cartoon, the Unicron Trilogy series of Armada, Energon, Cybertron, as well as Transformers Animated. This streaming site is ad-supported, and shows no sign of the other series lost with the Hasbro removal from Netflix, but this is a promising start. Keep reading for a link to the available shows!
Japanese site Hobby Collection has posted a list of upcoming releases from TakaraTomy from the end of April through June of 2015. The Transformers Adventure heading continues to play host to both RID 2015 and a mix of other items including Generations figures not falling under the Legends Series in Japan. There are no pictures so far, but some interesting things in the text. Keep reading!
Mech iDeas have announced special limited editions of their Techno Toon Titans Buster & Trench, AKA Animated Pipes and Huffer. Taking the reference to its logical conclusion, the pair of plumber bots will be repainted as Nintendo's own Mario and Luigi! 300 will be made, with 150 each available at Auto Assembly UK and TFCon in Canada. IDW's Andrew Griffith is bringing a bunch of new prints with him to BotCon 2014, including a Shattered Glass version of Animated Optimus Prime and Sari, as well as matching Generation 2-styled prints of Optimus Prime and Megatron and an homage to the cover of Marvel's Transformers #50. The G2 Prints are our favorite, referencing the voice clips the two toys were able to play (over and over and over...). TVShowsOnDVD has posted a press release from Shout! Factory announcing their Complete Series boxset of Transformers Animated... and also
announcing it as an Amazon exclusive. Good news is that the Season Three boxset is not, though! Check out the full article for more info.
This may be some welcome news to some folks: Transformers Animated will air on The Hub starting on July 9, 2012, according to Nick and More. The website reports that the series, which originally ran from December 2007 to May 2009, will start airing reruns at 5:30PM Eastern on Monday July 9th only on The Hub.
Fun Publications has announced that the BotCon 2012 Custom Class exclusive figure is Shattered Glass Longarm. The figure uses the Transformers Reveal the Shield Jazz
mold. The organizers also teased that there will be a "super secret special bonus." Collecticon has provided a photo showing that there are two Shockwave heads (white and purple), along with additional parts to change Longarm to Shockwave. In the Transformers Animated series, Autobot Longarm later revealed himself to be Shockwave. Fun Publications has announced the first two guests of BotCon 2012 as David Kaye and Garry Chalk, officially confirming that these two Transformers voice actors will attend after David Kaye let the cat out of the bag
last week. The two iconic voice actors who were first introduced to the fandom in Beast Wars in 1996, will be on hand to help celebrate the tenth anniversary of Transformers Armada. It is a little unbelievable, but San Diego Comic-Con International 2011 starts tomorrow! Our staff is en route today in time for the preview night tonight at the San Diego Convention Center, but one of the main questions we have is, "what will we see this weekend?" Thankfully, Transformers related things will be front-loaded, with IDW Publishing, Hasbro, and Hasbro Studios panels on Thursday, so we will not have to wait long.
