Designser Alex Kubalsky To Show Art At 'Industrial Origami' Event Celebrating Transforming Toy & Prop Designs
RAC - Monday, September 21, 2015

The Jaguarshoes Collective, an art and design group, have announced an event called "Industrial Origami - Art of Transformable Design," and the guest speaker will be Transformers designer Alex Kubalsky! Kubalsky has designed quite a few Deluxe-class Transformers, including possibly the best entries in the Classics and Universe lines: Bumblebee, Mirage, and Hound. You can hear see an exhibit of his work, Transformers and otherwise, at the Shoreditch Station in London, UK, between now and November 1st. Keep reading for some sample images!
As part of London Design Festival and the Shoreditch design triangle 2015, Alexander Kabulsky will be showcasing an all new transformation design, a personal work for JaguarShoes.

Destined to be produced by a toy company later this year the new design will feature as part of Alex Kabulsky’s product showcase and talk during design week, titled ‘Industrial Origami’ at old Shoreditch and subsequently as part of an exhibition at DreamBagsJaguarShoes.

For more than 30 years transformation has been a staple part of the pop cultural landscape in the shape of ‘Transformers’ a toy and movie franchise, born in 1984 which grew from Japanese designed Takara toys, rebranded and distributed in the USA as Transformers.

However, the art of transformation design is an ancient practice, rooted in the well documented paper folding traditions of origami.

Today this highly specialised practice is permeating the design of both purposeful and frivolous objects in society. Since metropolitan living grows increasingly dense within it’s confined spaces, it is an art form that will continue to grow across all mediums.

JaguarShoes Collective believe that this design practice is long overdue some well deserved admiration and celebration. Therefore we will be hosting a talk and Q&A on 24th September alongside an exhibition of work by prop and toy designer Alexander Kubalsky.

An accomplished product designer Alex specialises in the art of Transformable design and is commissioned by numerous commercial clients inc. Hasbro, Warner Films and many other multinational toy and film franchises.

For anyone with a love of Transforming, a desire to introduce this art to their practice or to pursue and career designing transforming objects… we recommend that you book a ticket in advance.

Multiple members of the 2005 Forums are reporting that the Power of the Primes Wave 1 Voyagers are now arriving in Minnesota ToysRUs stores! The Voyagers were generally lagging behind the other assortments in US markets, making this the first chance for fans to assemble 2/3rds of a Volcanicus and of whatever Starscream's combiner name is. Hopefully we'll know soon, but in the meantime, click through for a link to the messages!
German website Brandora has posted official images of the Power of the Primes Wave 2 Prime Masters, Alchemist Prime with Submarauder and Alpha Trion with Landmine! The pair follow along in the established "Pretenders" form factor for the Prime Masters size class, and look pretty good! Keep reading to see the images.
Coming this February to your comics retailer of choice, we have several Transformers titles including a pair of collected volumes to fill up your shelves. First up is the Optimus Prime Annual 2018 featuring Starscream's completely unbiased biographical movie, part 3 of Transformers Vs Visionaries, our regular pair of Optimus Prime #16 and Lost Light #15, plus the Lost Light Vol.2 collection and the collected edition of ROM Vs Transformers: Shining Armor. You can find cover previews and summaries just below - keep reading!
Via Facebook, IDW has shared the full cover and an extended blurb for their Transformers comic offering coming up this Free Comic Book Day in early May of 2018 - yes, FCBD marketing gets almost as much seasonal creep as Christmas now. This issue sounds like it'll be kicking off the long-anticipated debut of Unicron in the IDW universe, and surely that can't bode poorly for the Transformers books and everything connected to them, right? Keep reading for the preview summary and the full size cover image.
Surprise! Or it would have been if not for the tireless efforts of eternal Weibo leaker tf-factory, who has posted Power of the Primes package backs today. Included are Voyagers Elita-1, Inferno, and Hun-Gurr as well as Deluxe Moonracer. Also, a Deluxe Blast Off who is marked off presumably to permit more leaks later - which is just stupid, because what else would it be but a US release of the Unite Warriors mold? Keep reading to see the images, which are potentially frustrating on a variety of levels.
