DVD & Video Shout! Factory will release Transformers Victory, the final Japanese Generation 1 Transformers series onto DVD on August 28, 2012, reports TV Shows On DVD. This set consists of four DVDs with an MSRP of $29.93. The set is currently available for pre-order at Amazon for $20.95. In other Japanese Collection-related news, Super-God Masterforce is now in-stock and available for purchase at Amazon as well for $19.99. This series was first released in the Japanese Collection, which collected Headmasters, Super-God Masterforce, and Victory all into one set. Shout! Factory has confirmed that they will be replacing two discs from the Transformers Japanese Collection that have incorrect subtitles, which we have heard about from multiple people who have purchased this set. "We are moving quickly to fix [the subtitle] errors and manufacture two replacement discs for your set and will ship them to you in about two weeks," the company wrote in an email sent to customers. If you purchased the set from the Shout! store, replacement discs will automatically be shipped to your previously-identified shipping address. Update: We received confirmation Brian Ward himself that the set is indeed set for January 10, 2012. Full info and press release after the break.
Fans, rejoice! The Transformers The Japanese Collection has been (re)set for a release date of January 10, 2012! The online store for Shout! Factory has re-listed the gargantuan 13-DVD set with the Headmasters, Super-God Masterforce, and Victory series for $89.99 plus shipping and handling that includes a bonus lithograph of Headmaster leader Fortress Maximus. While this is quite exciting news, the studio has delayed the set before. Continue reading... Darn! Looks like the Shout! Factory December release dates reported recently for the Transformers Japanese Collection will NOT be this December after all. According to DVD producer, Brain Ward who sent out a tweet on his Twitter page letting us know otherwise: "Don't believe everything you read on the web (or in our catalog!). TRANSFORMERS JAPANESE COLLECTION is not set for early December, after all" Despite what Comic-Con International states on their San Diego Comic-Con 2011 exclusives page, it looks like Shout! Factory will not be offering their Fortress Maximus lithograph as a bonus with the purchase of the Transformers Japanese DVD Collection, citing that "[i]t's not quite ready." Back at the end of June, Shout! informed customers about the delay of the Transformers Japanese Collection Box Set and cancelled existing pre-orders, citing the uncertainty of a release date.
