In a saddeningly timely turn of events, CNN Money has reported that Charles Lazarus, founder of ToysRUs, has passed away at the age of 94. Lazarus began the business that came to be known as ToysRUs in 1948, opening his first all-toy store in 1957 and staying with the company until 1994. TFormers expresses our deepest condolences Mr. Lazarus' friends and family.
On Facebook, XM Studios has posted a new teaser render for an upcoming licensed Megatron statue they're working on. The highly stylized take on G1 Megatron has all of the recognizable elements, though done in a style that's more like movie-meets-G1. Interestingly it's also called out as being "1/10 scale". But without an indication what they're basing the "real" height on, that doesn't offer much clarity toward the size that this statue will ultimately be. The closure of ToysRUs provokes a lot of emotions - sadness, frustration at the circumstances, and in some a misguided sense of satisfaction stemming from their latter-day pricing habits. Few would guess the last piece to be reissued from the original Transformers Generation 1 series would be the music scores. Even though the original cartoons have been reissued, updated and restored multiple times. Fans that have been asking for copies of the Original Sound Tracks (OST) masters have finally gotten theirs, on vinyl of all things. IF, they were fast enough to buy one of the 2,000 copies that sold out in less than 10 minutes. The good news is a second pressing is in the works.

Just up on the official Imaginarium Art page is the full reveal of their upcoming Transformers G1 Jazz statue with the declaration: "Jazz has been decided!" The fan favorite character makes his debut in the ever growing Legacy Of Cybertron series of Generation 1 homages. No word on price or dates just yet. According to Rolling Stone Magazing, Wizards of the Coast will be releasing a new Transformers trading card game, Next fall 2018. The card based game will offer special graphics on what are being called an "oversized" format. The game made for younger fans, uses two decks and was designed to be easy to play. It may also be offered as a digital format. Read on to see the images and more details from president Chris Cocks.

Hasbro will be re-releasing the Transformers Monopoly game as a limited edition of 1,000 board games. Toy Fair 2018 - Super7 Transformers Products: MUSCLE-style Keshi Surprise, 12" Vinyls, Pins, Drinking Glasses

Most intriguing is the Keshi Surprise series, blindboxed minifigures based on the M.U.S.C.L.E. format known in Japan as "Keshi" or "Keshi Gomu." Also present are 12" Super Cyborgs which are G1 Optimus Prime and Megatron figures with transparencies to show their inner workings. All this, plus drinking glasses and enamel pins. Just in form Toy Fair 2018, we have news of two new Transformers figures from Flame Toys. What appear to be non-transforming editions of Optimus Prime and Starscream. These look a lot like the designs we saw from their Kuro Kara Kuri Drift with extended articulation and weapons. Update: these are said to be offered as model kits that you assemble yourself. No word on their price and release date at this time. Read on to see the images of both figures.
Coming to us throw Dengeki Hobby, we have the first reveal of an upcoming Masterpiece exclusive. MP-17+ follows along the likes of red Alert and Sideswipe as an "anime" colors version of Masterpiece Prowl. The deco is most distinctly different with the blue tint to the windows as well as more simplified markings to be better in line with how the character was represented in the cartoon. Along with that, this release will include the shoulder rocket accessories that were previously a bonus item for purchasing through a specific Japanese retailer. MP-17+ Prowl appears to be a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive, due for release in September. Click through to see the photos!
