Deluxe Bonecrusher - Movie - Figure

There are certainly alot of deluxe class Decepticons being thrown out early in the game. Here is yet another one, which is actually in the movie. Bonecrusher is a bot with only one thing on his mind: complete and utter destruction of anything in his path.

Alt Mode

Bonecrusher takes the alt mode of a Buffalo MPCV (Muti-Purpose Combat Vehicle). He is a khaki color with painted blue windows. Detailing is pretty good on this mode and includes 2 molded in spare tires. Perhaps the most noticeable feature of this mode is the giant claw that rests on the roof. This claw has maneuverability like you wouldn't believe.

The mount on the front end rotates 180 degrees. There is a hinge located next to the peg mount that has a 4pt horizontal movement as well as a 180 degree vertical movement. Above that, there is pin joint that moves the arm 270 degrees vertical. Then there's the actual claws. The claw movement is controlled by a lever. This can sweep the claws back up to 165 degrees. If that's not enough, there is a knuckle on the claws that will bend them back forward another 135 degrees. That kind of jointing can definitely be put to good use.

Transformation

Don't rely on the directions much for the transformation. You can figure him out, but it might require a study. He splits in half in a couple of places and requires some twists. There is an automorph feature stated, but I sure couldn't find it.

Alt Mode

This is one ugly bot. Want an alien looking Transformer? Gets no better than this one. More color shows up with some olive green on the limbs copper on the chest and shoulders. The face bares some resemblence to Brawl, although compacted a bit.

Points of articulation are as follows. Feet: (If you can call them that) Stationary. Knees: screw hinge, 90 degree vertical rotation. Thighs: pegged, unlimited horizontal rotation. Hips: ball joint, 90 degree horizontal and 180 degree vertical rotation. Shoulders: 2 stage pin hinge, 270 degree horizontal and 90 degree vertical rotation. Elbows: pin hinge, 90 degree inward rotation. Wrists: pin hinge, 180 degree inward rotation. Head: ball joint, 90 degree tilt and unlimited horizontal rotation. The jointing is set up quite well. The wheels that make up the feet pose some challenge to articulation.

As well as having some utilization of the claw, Bonecrusher can also extend his arms out. Personally, this just adds to his clunkiness. The alt mode is very well done, but the robot mode is too ugly and disproportioned to suit my taste. However, I am sure there are plenty out there who would see opposite of that.

Bonecrusher is DA BOMB!

My Score:
Lots of people are complaining about his size, and yes, its a big truck that sould dwarf a Pontiac Solace or a Camero. However, Bonecrusher was not a G-1 Transformer, and his role in the film amounted to little more than wrecking a few cars and being skewered in the face by Optimus Prime. He just isn''t important enough to be made in the Voyager size class.

My Score:
Very nice figure with few bad points. When I first saw the movie, I thought he was either an armored personell carrier or just something they made up. I have found out that his vehicle mode is a real vehicle--an armored minesweeper developed in South Africa and currently used by the US Army in Iraq against IEDs. They are very effective--there is graffiti in Iraq to the effect of "Kill the Claw!" (refering to the claw appendage).

Anyway, the conversion is relatively simple with few week points, except for the claw itself (I wouldn''t advise moving it much, as the joint is just a small plastic loop). Looks good as both a truck and a robot.

i only really have 1 or 2 issues with this toy. 1). hes tiny and WAAAAAAY off scale. and 2) hes monotonous in terms of color. i personally dont mind repainting my transformers (they look even better afterwards) but i highly doubt most people would even bother doing that.

Like almost everything about him. Still, wish he was made in leader class size so he would be in scale with the other movie tf toys. I wish his legs would be completely hidden in vehicle mode rather than sticking out a bit from the bottom.

this figure is alright, coulda used a lil more color for the robot mode even if hes mainly one color, and the scale is pretty off, hes really freakin tiny.

Not quite sure who designed this toy, but he won''t be part of my transformers collection. Maybe he''ll be kinda cool in the movie but I seriously doubt it.

My Score:
I sorta disagree with your review. I think he looks fantastic both in alt form and robot form, my only real gripe is that he is really small and in the movie is shown to be around the same size as optimus prime. even bumblebee and jazz are taller than him :(

My Score:
I''m one that sees ''opposite of that''. I think the more I look at this figure (and in the trailers), the more he grows on me. The translation from the big screen to toy is rather phenomenal. Yeah, he''s awkward and kinda odd looking, but for some reason it just works as a whole with the rest of the cons.

great figure. my only complant is the fact that if you move his arms to a forward bend at the elbos, his hands are palm up.besides that a great toy. looks better when hunched over.

My Score:
The only thing I really don''t care for is the Kibble on the shoulders/upper arms. Beyond that, Bonecrusher pulls off the freaky alien robot thing pretty well. Also, his head kind of reminds me of Zuckuss, the Gand bounty hunter from The Empire Strikes Back. It''s a rather endearing quality.

This is one of the few movie figures I have, and I completely disagree with your review of the robot mode. I think it is a wonderful representation of the movie ''bot. He is not really clunky by any means, his arms are pretty damn cool if i do say so myself.

I am not in the least bit disappointed by this figure.

This is one of the worst Transformers I ever bought. It''s going right back to the store. They designed the vehicle mode & never even bothered with a robot mode. It sort of reminds me of The Fly, combine the Fly with the telepod & whatever crap comes out, that''s what we''ll sell!

My Score:
I''ve got 6 of the movie deluxe figures now, and they all have one thing in common. Fragile pieces, and parts that don''t connect well in robot mode. Still, I do really like Barricade, and I think this guy looks true enough to the movie.

My Score:
He looks almost spot-on when posed with his head down. He''s hideous and threatening-looking, but far less goofy when posed right. The fact that this thing can rollerblade around at 80 mph is upsetting.

i love this figure, not to human propotions, alien in nature, not recycled G1 garbage, its great. he is definatly very movie like, here is to hoping for a voyager or leader class version.

My Score:
This figure has parts that resemble the movie figure very well, but the torso and arms are way off, and the legs are much shorter then they should be. As a toy, he is also very fragile in the respect that he has so many joints simply picking him up causes him to flop around.

If he had bulkier legs and less bulky arms I would give this figure a better rating, much like Jazz, who had the reverse problem.

My Score:
The legs are especially bizzarre, but I like it. You know, this one actually pulls off the alien look better than any other movie toys I''ve seen so far. I actually like the overall look. Except that ridiculous pissed-off-Stewie-owl head, that''s got to go. Once again, Hasbro really needs to work on giving us better head. Thanks for another good review, Blitzwing!

My Score:
I think this is one of the better molds - at least far better than Deluxe Bumblebee for example, because he looks much more like his movie version than the bumblebee figure does. You could even give him the exact pose he has when sliding through the bus.

I wonder if the bad scores people give him are due to Boncrusher''s overall movie design or really due to a bad conversion of the figure. I think this one comes *very* close to the movie version.

If you don''t like TF Movie Bonecrusher, that is of course a different thing.

My Score:
Great review. I have to say Bonecrusher is a great figure though I like Barricade the best so far. Bonecrusher is definitly wild looking. I have been able to find most of the first wave deluxe figures so far and they are all pretty cool. I even picked up the Walmart exclusive 2-pack Bumblebee vs Barricade. I haven''t seen Scorponok or Wreckage yet. I also got all the first wave of the Fast Action Battlers. The only Real Gear one I got was the Laserbeak looking one. I went back to get the rest but they pulled everything off the shelf when I went back the next day. I think once people see them in person and adjust to the new look some might actually change their minds. They are definity pretty cool. I can''t wait for the Voyager Prime and the rest of the Voyager Class.

I think once people actually see the movie they''ll look at the figures in a whole new way. Just from what I can see from the trailers, the look seems to really suit the characters....a bunch of mean, ugly lookin SOB''s and then some. The figures reflect just that, put the two together and it will all make much more sense I believe.

The movie is far beyond what I ever could have dreamed as a kid. The action, destruction and sheer brutality is just astounding. Even a year ago I don''t think really expected so much intensity. And to think, we''ve only seen bits and pieces.

Im sure he can be leaned down for a more crouched look, like in the trailer. This one looks really good to me actually. I like the idea of decepticons being terrifying alien robots rather than just metal guys in armor with helmets on. The true test will be when i get him in my hands!

My Score:
They really come alive in robot mode, to look at him you would not think he turned into a vehicle, that''s where the movie toys are growing on me, even the Starscream protoform looks much cooler in hand than on screen. Bring em all on I say.

My Score:
I''ll admit that Bonecrusher is ugly. But I think the ugliness makes him look more evil, which works well for the character. I like this bot because he has alot of options that add to the playability: the extending arms, the "claw", and his "roller skates" - as seen in the movie preview. In reference to the skates, I personally don''t have any problem with balancing him. In fact, he is articulated enough to get some pretty cool poses. I think you scored him a bit low based on his alien aesthetic but thats just my opinion. Overall, nice review.

I do see the opposite of that. I think you mistransformed him. I thought his head was meant to be in the middle of his chest or something.
