Legends Sideswipe - Movie - Figure

Legends Class Sideswipe

Sideswipe is getting ALOT of attention for the movie. Already, we've reviewed the deluxe and Gravity Bot versions of him. We also recently confirmed a Human Alliance version. Now, we take a look at the Legends class figure available.

Robot Mode

Compared to Jetfire, Sideswipe is missing alot of detail in the downsizing process. The paint scheme is almost all light gray, with some black on the limbs. You can make out fists and the sword blades inside the door panels on his arms. The head is almost too small to make out for details.

One main difference is that he loses his 'wheel feet', instead getting workable haunches. This is good for standing, but he's not much of a poser. Overall, slightly below average for a Legend.

Articulation

Feet:Stationary (Technical)
Knees:Pin hinge, 90 degree bend
Hips: Ball joint, 90 degree spread and 105 degree bend
Waist:Stationary
Shoulders:Ball joint, unlimited rotation
Elbows:Stationary
Head:Stationary

There's really not alot you can do for him as far as posing. The knees are restricted by the back and there's no arm spread.

Robot Mode Specs

Height:3.12in/79.3mm(4in/101.6mm including canopy)
Width:1.75in/44.5mm
Depth:1.25in/31.8mm
Supplied accessories:None

Transformation

Lift up the chest to cover his head. Spread out the legs as far as you can. Rotate the legs so the wheels face up. Fold the legs at the knees to join the hood. Fold in the haunches to form the grille. Align the arms to the side of the car, then push in and back.

Alt Mode

Looking at the Legend and the Deluxe in alt mode, they did a remarkable job in likeness. The only thing really missing on the Legend are the quad pipes on the back. Most of the other details, including the brand badges, are present.

The side profile looks much cleaner due to the lack of splitting door panels to make up the sword. The only paint app missing is for the split rear window, but for a painter that's an easy fix.

Alt Mode Specs

Length:2.5in/63.5mm
Wheelbase:1.87in/47.5mm
Width:1.5in/38.1mm
Height:0.62in/15.8mm
Scale Ratio:397.1(est)
Wheels: 80:1 (est)
Detailed cockpit:None

Verdict

Robot Mode: Below average articulation, bland looking.
Alt Mode:Remarkable close to the Deluxe mold, only missing some minor paint apps
Overall:Good only for the alt mode. The robot mode lacks.

Scout:Legend
