Icepick w/Chainclaw - Power Core Combiner - Figure

Hasbro has always had some love for snow vehicles. Seems every so often, an arctic terrain vehicle shows up along the line. The Power Core Combiner continues that random tradition with Icepick, fitting since there is a G1 combiner leader of the same name.

Icepick believes that he represents the next generation of Decepticons. According to him, all those not gifted with the ability to combine are obsolete, and should be destroyed. He's willing to start with the Autobots, but he won't hesitate if an older Decepticon strays into his line of fire.

Commander Mode

Icepick sports a mostly white color with a deep blue hue at various points. Each shoulder sports a Decepticon insignia. His big, meaty claw hands have ball joints and, with his other joints, makes for great posing ability.

As with the other two-packs, Icepick comes with his own minicon, Chainclaw. No idea how an Autobot G1 pretender ended up being a PCC Decepticon minicon. He has great leg articulation, but arms are limited to shoulder rotation with molded elbows.

Bend his knees back 90 degrees, push the arms back a little and bend the hipts to wrap his legs around his chest. Sounds contortionist, but you just made his chest armor. While the end result looks vanilla, he has a minicon port that you can mount yet another minicon to. Deszaras anyone?

If you elect to bend his hips back instead of to the sides, you transform him into a missile battery that can be placed on the right shoulder of Icepick. You'll give him a volley of 8 missiles to play with (missile are molded).

Feet:Stationary (technical)
Knees: Pin hinge, 90 degree bend. Pinned above knee for unlimited lower leg rotation.
Hips: Dual pin hinges, 180 degree bend and 90 degree spread.
Shoulders:Ball joint, 180 degree rotation and 90 degree spread, pinned below shoulder for unlimited arm rotation
Elbows:Pin hinge, 150 degree bend
Hands:Ball joint, unlimited rotation w/90 degree inward bend
Head:Pinned for unlimited rotation

There's actually an extra set of joints on the shoulders to get upward rotation and "shrugging". To get full hip articulation, you'll have to lift the waistplate.

Commander Mode Specs

Height:4.5in/114.3mm (without combiner ports)
Width:3in/76.2mm (without combiner ports)
Supplied accessories:(1)Chainclaw Minicon figure

Commander to Vehicle Mode

Spread out his arms so they flush against the combiner port struts. Twist the inner shoulder joints so that the combiner ports face forward. Fold the arms back and connect them to hide the head. Fold down the combiner ports. Fold the feet in. Rotate the lower legs 180 degrees and join them together via a tab. Break the waist away from the chest and cantilever the legs to the back. The legs will connect with tabs on the arms. Fold down the hands, then flip out the silver tabs on his waist.

Alt Mode

The end result is a halftrack arctic exploration vehicle. The two front wheels are rollers, while there are two molded wheels under the halftrack to help it roll along. One noticeable detail left out is the windshield, which was left unpainted. Why is anyone's guess.

The back end tends to look a little cluttered, due to the claws wrapped around the rear end and the exposed combiner ports. It still ends up being a very decent alt mode overall.

If you still have Chainclaw in his weapons mode, you can simply plug him into the minicon port on the roof. Now you have a Snowcat with bite.

Alt Mode Specs

Length: 4.25in/108mm
Height:1.38in/35.1mm (including blades)
Wheels:2 rolling wheels on front, 2 molded wheels on rear.
Detailed cockpit:N/A

From Commander to Combiner Mode

To convert to Combiner mode, spread the arms to the side. Fold down the combiner ports. Rotate the outer shoulder joints so that the tab faces down. Fold down the chest and rotate the head so that the Combiner head shows. Spread the legs out 90 degrees. Rotate the lower legs so that the track treads show in the front. Fold the knees 90 degrees. Flip out the combiner ports from behind the lower legs. Rotate the hands so that the palms face backward. Bend the wrist in then bend the elbows so that his hands lay against his chest.

Combiner Mode

Icepick's combiner mode just replaced Smolder's as my favorite. The head sculpt is especially great since almost the entire head is piped, giving it an eery glow in the right light.

Commander Mode: Very nice robot mode, but the combiner strut and ports on the shoulders is a sore thumb.
Alt Mode:A little messy on the backside, but otherwise nicely done.
Chainclaw:Somewhat bland compared to the other minicons thus far, only 2 transformations.
Combiner Mode:How are the 2-pack commanders getting better combiner modes than the 5=pack commanders?
Overall:The minicon might be a bit of a bore, but Icepick has many possibilities.

Class:Scout plus Minicon 2 Pack

Im looking for the helicopter guys minicon. Maybe i can get THAT off you?

The minicons have been disappointing to me until Icepick and Sledge.

Speaking of awesome heads on PPC figs. Leadfoot's command mode head. Awesome.

I like this guy a lot. Im a sucker for halftracks, and anything with a big gnarly looking plow up front. Too bad Energon Snowcat wasnt designed like this, I always thought he'd look better if the cab tilted down to be his chest, instead of winding up like a giant potbelly. The combiners Block-O-... read more

I like Icepick specifically and the PCC line in general. His alt mode is far enough off the beaten path that I'm really glad they made it. Kinda reminds me of the old G.I. Joe snow vehicles they had back in the day. This whole deal has turned out to be a lot of fun so far.

My preference of commanders is Icepick, Smolder, Bombshock, Huffer, Searchlight and then Skyburst, who can burst like a fiery turd in the sky for all I care.

Smolder is pure awesome. Huffer's alright The helecoptor guy I'm willing to trade off. He's a nice figure, just not a keeper.

I liked Bombshock until i tried to connect his drones to Smolder, and now his drone jeep pops off on both Smolder and Bombshock. But BEFORE i even attached him to Smolder he was fine.

I like the way this figure looks in his commander mode although I'm iffy about the shoulders. The alt mode looks awesome. I like the combiner head, just a nice monster look to it, the rest is just goofy.

I'm really liking the PCC figures. My only (minor) complaint is it's really difficult to attach the Minicons as chest armor WITHOUT making it look like the Commander is doing something...inappropriate to the little guy. But overall, really fun figures. I only have Leadfoot now, but I wa... read more
