Skid-Z / Wind Sheer - RiD - Figure

I'm so happy that Hasbro decided to release Wind Sheer and Skyfire along with Tow-Line and Skid-Z. They could have simply shipped the Autobots as a two pack on their own, but instead they give us all four of the old Basic MW moulds, in new and improved colours no less! And to whoever's responsible for speeding up Canadian shipments: I want to have your babies.

Vehicle Modes
A recolour of MW Megatron, Wind Sheer is an F-22 Raptor, a much-plagued advanced US fighter jet that won't enter into full service until around 2004. Main colours are black and purple with neon yellow detailing, a transparent orange cockpit, and Decepticon symbols on his wings. Not the type of colour scheme you'd ever see on a real F-22, but very nice for an evil Decepticon. From nose to tail, Wind Sheer measures 12 cm(4.7") long. Like Skyfire, he's got retractable landing gear, and also like Skyfire, he's got a major case of undercarriage garbage.

Skid-Z is a Formula-1 race car. A recolour of MW Mirage, he measures 11.5 cm(4.5") from nose to spoiler. He's white, purple, and maroon, with chrome hubcaps and a maroon Autobot symbol on his hood. This makes him considerably less colourful than his CR version Indy Heat, who has blue hubcaps and yellow markings painted on him. Skid-Z rolls very well on both hardwood floor and carpeting. Vroom vroom!

TransformationsPull up on Skid-Z's spoiler and push down on Wind Sheer's nose to convert them to their robot modes. Neat how Wind Sheer's tailfins slide up as you transform him. The parts for their weapons are stored inside their hollow legs.

Robot Modes: In robot mode, Wind Sheer is just under 10 cm(4") tall. His head is black with some yellow detailing and glowing orange eyes. He carries a long barrelled laser gun, but unlike with Skyfire, the barrel can't attach anywhere to his arm to function as a second gun. He's also got big spikes jutting out from his elbows, which can get in the way of poseability somewhat. Wind Sheer is articulated at the head, shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees.

Skid-Z stands 10 cm tall. He retains the same colour scheme, except with turquoise for his head, fists, thighs, and feet. His face is white with glowing orange eyes and he has a neat little chrome magenta stripe on his forehead. His weapon is a laser gun that actually resembles G1 Shockwave, especially with that oval-shaped barrel. Skid-Z is articulated at the head, shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees. The wheels on his chest and the armour on his forearms both tend to get in the way of poseability.

Overall, Suspsy Sez
Both of these guys are very good toys, though I think I prefer Skyfire and Tow-Line over them. Skid-Z in particular has a problem with vehicle kibble in robot mode. And while I like Wind Sheer's colour scheme and jet mode better, Skyfire has that cool double weapons' feature in robot mode. Nevertheless, a recommended buy.

Suspsy, with the Harry Potter Lego sets now hitting stores, it's gonna be tough to decide between them and RiD.
