Sideways w/ Rook & Crosswise - Armada - Figures

Before I review, if you want to see pictures of me and my fiancee's fledgling Transformers collection, then go to Writing.com and look for 3 articles called The Reason I like Transformers, parts 1, 2 and 3. All the pictures are there and I add to them whenever me and my fiancee add to our collection-G1 Taraka reissue Optimus Prime will be added soon-so feel free to take a lot. Ok, review time.

Bike mode: Hmm, not too shabby. The colours are purple and yellow, looks like an eye sore if you think about it, yet the mode is nice. His mini cons, Rook and Crosswise, can ride on the back, either seperate or joined together. That feature is good, makes me think of Road Rash-Transformers style.

Aside from the undercarriage that seems to be a little too loose, it's a solid enough toy and mode. He won't fall over either, the undercarriage pretty much holds him in place. So all in all, not a bad mode at all really, just not great. Oh, and he's a little big, is it me or are all Transformers motorbikes usually bigger than the cars that you get sometimes? I've got him in bike mode sitting next to me and my fiancee's RID Ultra Magus, a big truck mode that I'm sure you're agree with, and Sideways is as huge as Magus, very odd to see considering it's a motorbike and truck side by side.

Robot mode: Still the same colours, with a little black added. The legs don't move much, the arms don't move much either, nor does the head. I don't mind though, just makes him more G1 than Armada really.

He's got 4 power links, two of them fire missiles, the other two are dead links. Not anything special at all really, until you use the mini cons. The mini cons can become two heads for him, one Autobot head and one Decepticon head. The Autobot head looks as big as the Decepticon one, the eyes on both are more cute than anything else. It's the legs that make the heads look odd, they stick out and I'm not sure if I should call them horns or just a very distressed mini con.

It's not a bad mode really, the headmaster idea, which hasn't been used much since G1 and Brave Maximus, is nice to see again, it's just not all that well done. Shame that, he does look cool like this, the heads just look so odd because of the way the legs stick out.

Well he's not bad, not great, but not bad. Still prefer G1 though, always will. Maybe an Armada toy will come out or is already out that will get a full score from me, maybe.
