Megatron & Leader-1 - Armada - Figures

Remember when Megatron used to be a gun? He's been a tank, a car, a tank again, a T-Rex, a head, a bat/dragon/jet/hand/car and a dragon and god knows what else, now he's a tank again. Megatron goes through a lot of changes and they've never quite made the perfect one after his G1 counterpart, he was insane, not sure on the other ones.

Tank mode: Big is one way of putting it, he's a fair size. Colours are mostly a very deep green with some other colours mixed in. His mini con Leader 1, cute little thing that has some nice modes as a gun, robot and gun tankish thing, can be used to make Megatron do a lot of sounds. Sounds like cannon fire, machine gun fire and explosions, also if you turn the turrent round a bit, you'll get Megatron saying "Decepticons, attack!" with more cannon and machine gun fire.

He's got a lot of gimmicks in this mode, like a tiny grabber ramp and a mini con prison. Also a launcher and other nice features, his claws look good as well for grabbing mini cons or other small TF's. He has a clear patch that lights up when his features are used, pity you can't turn them off because it can annoy when you don't want to hear the sounds again. If you press down a little on his turret as well, he'll fire a small missile and a firing sound will activate.

He looks fairly powerful in this mode, add the Combaticons and Demolishor and any other military TF's that are Decepticons and you have yourself a good strong army.

Robot mode: Slightly fiddly transformation later, because of his arms and torso, and Megatron is standing there, not exactly snarling, just staring. His tank treads from his vehicle mode give an illusion of size, even though he's about the same size as Armada Starscream. He has one hand that opens, probably for holding a mini con and his other other hand is a fist where you can slot the Starsaber/Skyboom shield/Requiem Blaster/Leader 1 in gun mode. The colours shift more to purple in this mode with a lot of grey's and blacks and some greens, the claws now frame his head as well. You can swing the turret round, with a little work, so Megatron has more firepower and his left arm has a powerlink that you can slide with or without a mini con attached so a small blade appears in his left hand. Also the tiny purple symbol can be flipped up so a blast shield protects Megatron's face, or maybe it's a beauty mask? He looks powerful and every bit what a Megatron should look like in this mode, his turret in normal robot mode can be fitted round his side to make you think of G1 Megatron's cannon as well.

Not a bad toy at all, lots of gimmicks that could have been left out really, no real poseability because of said gimmicks and plenty of power links. Not all his power links are active ones, but at least you can attach a lot of firepower to him in any mode. A good if not perfect version of Megatron, worth buying for boosting the Decepticon army and also for having this big tank there to add to a military group. Fun toy.
