A favorite character to many, Sideswipe returns once again, this time in Takara's newest randomly packed phenomenon, the Smallest Transformers. Number two in the series, I wonder how soon it will be before his brother joins him.
Like all the toys in this assortment, Sideswipe includes a small fold-out booklet detailing his box art, tech specs, and instructions. Sideswipe measures in at 1 7/8" and is mostly red with black tires (which do not move), windows, and front bumper. His headlights and hubcaps are painted a dull, light gray and he has an Autobot symbol painted on his hood. His rear taillights are painted a reflective orange color.
Carefully extend the front section and pull out the doors. Flip down the hood and feet. Stand and position arms as desired. There are two parts that may pop off if you're not careful: his head and spoiler. Both reattach, but the head is a little more difficult to do so. The bottom portion of the legs can also separate, which can lead to his feet falling out.
Still at 1 7/8" Sideswipe now show some white, in the form of his upper legs and behind his head, and that dull, light gray on his arms. With the exception of his head being attached to the front hood rather than set back, he faithfully translates the original Sideswipe into a smaller scale. He also possesses two points of articulation in his shoulders.
You get a little (no pun intended) more bang for your buck with Sideswipe over Bumblebee, though he seems more fragile than his little Bug Buddy. If you like Sideswipe or your Transformers small, this is the Bot for you.
