I have to admit that an owl is a unique alternate form when it comes to the Transformers. In fact, Prowl is the first and only owl Transformer that I can think of. And frankly, the fine folks at Hasbro chose Prowl's form well.
By depressing the button on his back in owl mode and positioning the wings so that they are parallel to the ground, you get a madcap whirling frenzy of feathers spinning about. Prowl is probably the first owl capable of deforestation .
For a deluxe Beast Wars toy, transformation is of average difficulty. Bring out the thrustors to reveal the robot arms then extend the robot legs downward. Rotate the main torso so that the Owl head is facing downward and in front. Snap the thrustors in place on the sides of the robot and open the top hatch to reveal the robot head.
His Spark crystal can be found at the top of the owl head, simply press down on either the top or bottom of the red dome to flip it around and see the Spark.
A nice touch by the writers of Prowl's tech specs was including text from the original Prowl back in the days of Autobots and Decepticons. It's even hinted that he believes himself to be the Autobot of the same name. Is he? That's up to the kids and fans to decide (though the original Prowl did die in The Transformers: The Movie).
