Starscream - Energon - Figure

First off let me just say I cant believe there wasn't already a review for this guy here I mean come on look at him! Any way I'll start the review in vehicle mode since that is the mode he comes packaged in.

Vehicle Mode

All righty at first glace Starscream appears to not be much more than a F-22 Raptor but he is full of little homages to other Starscreams. The red and red trim hark back to G-1 Screamer. He is full of unnessecary details such as the silver wash on the dorsal side of the jet, the battle damage, and the "glowing" green on the left wing. You can see inside his cockpit which is awesome, another unwarranted touch. He has three peices of landing gear all of which fold away unobtrusivly. For me personally the vehicle mode gets a 10 outta 10.

Transformation

Let's start this off by saying the transformation is most certainly at least based off G-2 Smokescreen. Flip up all the landing gear, pull the legs and waist down and up till they touch the underside of the cockpit, turn the legs untill they face you and rotate the tail fins up and flip the feet out, spin the plane body arundfrom behind cockpit peice. Pull the arms out of their holding place(it almost feels like your gonna break them) flip down the back one section at a time until they all lock into place.

Robot Mode

This is by far my favorite incarnation of Starscream to date. He has a War Within homage, the gold circles on the triangle things behind his head. The use of translucent green plastic here is awesome shwoing more battle damage. In this mode i count 10 points of articulation, his spark crystal is located in the center of his chest and can accomadate an energon chip though none of them look very good to me. For the robot mode Starscream gets a 10 outta 10.

Hyper power/ Weapons

I know what your thinkin, "Your'e forgettin his friggin abilities!" well im savin the best for last. In both mode you can flip the wings and rotate them to use the missle lanuchers (I think this looks better in robot mode but that's just me). He also comes with two weapons, a sword and a BFG (Big F***ing Gun)(I think I can say that here) and the two can be combined in a number of ways. So as for the Hyper Power/Weapons he also gets a 10 outta 10.

Overall

Starscream is my favorite TF Energon release so far, with Megatron being a close second. I give the figure a 10 outta 10 and my sincre recommendations.

My Score:
Did anyone else have a HECK of a time getting the shoulders to swivel out of the fuselage when going from vehicle to robot mode (the first time at least)?? It took so much force (and nearly an hour of effort), I was afraid I was going to break the figure (ha, gotta give Hasbro SOME credit, if it had probably been 20 years ago, I suppose the shoulders WOULD have broken...). Other than that, it is an awesome figure... great detailing, great poseability, etc. colors are just a bit off (too much black!) but I love the "battle damage" (which I suppose is just intentional detailing for his "undead" status...)
