Mirage - Energon - Figure

Mirage, which Dreamwave has reported is what will become of Tidal Wave in the comics, is finally here. I must say, a boat is a new idea as far as I know, and they did a heck of a job.

SHIP MODE: This ships is kinda small, as in width, not length, but that does nothing to detract from it's coolness. It actually looks like a boat, more of a battleship type boat, but a boat nonetheless. It has twin missle launchers on the deck that flip up at the touch of a button. Also, there a two more missle launchers on the rear sides, they also can be folded down as hydrofoils which looks rather cool. All in all, Mirage is a vast improvment over Tidal Wave in this mode except for the sheer size that was Tidal Wave.

TRANSFORMATION: Tricky the first time around, but still very interesting. First, seperate and spread apart the teal front of the boat. Then sperate it from the darker blue parts in the rear. Then flip the deck down, and flip back the launchers from the tip of the deck. Now slide the legs off their pegs and fold down the feet. rotate the black part of the ship up, and then rotate the torso around. Now you can rotate the deck (a lot of rotating eh?) and fold it up, making sure to snap the head into place on the deck. Bring the top of the black part, which is now the chest, down to reveal the head. Now fold over, back, and then down his arms. Extend tha hands and fix his arms into position and your done.

ROBOT MODE: Very evil looking, with a sinister face. He has missle launchers on his arms, and a button on his back can be pressed to throw some more launchers over his shoulders. The only drawback are his legs, which seems to come apart with little force and aren't very moveable. Other that that, he looks spectacular, just wish he had a gun instead of just cannons (of course, Tidal Wave never had a gun either, just sheer firepower). Though a little small for $20, Mirage is well worth it.

OVERALL: No gun, a little small, but still a definate improvement over Tidal Wave and a welcome addition to the Energon line. An evil looking Decepticon and some neat flip-over-shoulder cannons, and a very fun boat mode. Even with the minor flaws I mentioned, I STILL give him a perfect 10/10, he is just that cool.
