Cybertron Leobreaker

Take one part Overhaul, one part Jungle Planet Cyber Key, mix thoroughly and this is your result. Leobreaker is the reformatted version of Overhaul. The same in some ways, a lot different in others.

If there was any one figure so far that captured what Beast Wars used to be, I think this is it. The lion mode fits the name to a tee. Lots of great detail on this figure. The synthetic mane in particular is done well. You will also noticed the forked tail. Whereas Scourge and Undermine had poseable tails, this one is a one piece deal. The only real detractor in this mode. The legs are quite poseable themselves. The underbelly of this beast is kinda ugly though, as it shows off a link point that I'll discuss later.

Insert the Cyber Key in each front leg and his razor claws flip down. These look pretty damaging. This is about the only carry-over from Overhaul you can see in Alt mode, but it's a nice carryover. As with the previous Voyager figures, Leobreaker is a pretty snap transformation.

In Robot mode, there is more evidence that this is the bot formerly known as Overhaul. His head is almost an exact image, albeit slightly more ornamented. His tail now becomes a whip, but without the joints it's not as fun as others in the line. While there is some good poseability, the design of this figure left limitations. The head doesn't seem to fully flip all the way open, so you always think it's sagging. Also, due to the back panels that flip out during transformation, his arms never really lay flat at his side. His biceps area also folds out, which just looks odd. He has no horizontal hip or shoulder articulation, and his head articulation is limited to about 10 degrees in either direction. Overall, a great looking figure but with some movement limits.

To insert they Cyber Key, you have to twist the forearms a bit. However, it's the same function as in Alt Mode. Still a nice touch for Leobreaker. There is one more function that Leobreaker performs and that is the ability to bond with Optimus Prime.

In Optimus' Super mode, release the container from his back, fold his right arm back in Alt mode then attach Leobreaker. There is a square port that you can see in Leobreaker's Alt mode that attaches to the square port in Optimus' now empty right shoulder. It's a curious add-on, but seems effective nonetheless. Be aware, though, that this does create equalibrium problems with Prime, so you'll have to adjust footing appropriately. This is so far the best overall beast mode yet for Cybertron. It's only major fault is lack of joints for posing.
