Brushguard - Cybertron - Figure

Brushguard is the first of what will likely be many redecos for the Cybertron line. In this case, Brushguard is the redeco for Overhaul, and he serves as a scientist for the Decepticons.

The alt mode is identical to Overhaul's, which is a mini SUV. Instead of mainly green, however, they used a misty blue color with lavender highlights. While it's tamer than some past redecos, it's still not too pretty. What is interesting to note is that he has a seismic logo on his hood, similar to Energon Landquake. If he were a geologist as Lankquake was, this wouldn't be too troubling. However, Brushguard is listed as a Xenobotanist.

Unfortunately, as like Overhaul, the Cyber Key function is useless in Alt mode. Also, you can see the missile stock hanging out the back. I wish they would have done something about this, as it wrecks the clean lines of the Alt mode.

Brushguard's robot mode is an exact carryover of Overhaul as well. It may not look like it at first, but even the face molding is identical. The same mist blue and lavender theme carries over, along with some neon green and silver. I wonder if the US designers have ever had color rendering tests done... ahem. Figure is pretty poseable, as is Overhaul.

The Cyber Key function works in the same way it did for Overhaul, whereas a chest mounted missile fires. It's an OK gimmick, but the missile stock again throws off the mostly clean design. Overhaul was an OK figure at best, and Brushguard gets a slightly lower thought due to the garish colors.
