With Botcon coming up and the theme involving beast wars beofre they were on Earth, I figured I'd review Cybertron Buzzsaw.Buzzsaw came out a while ago and only cost $10. Is he worth it?
Most of you know that Buzzsaw was a repaint of Waspinator from beast wars and a name from one of g1 Soundwave's cassettes. Cybertron Buzzsaw was in the t.v. show but only in his copter mode and only during one of the races on Speed Planet, but I can't remember which one.Now instead of being a Waspinator repaint, he is a remold and repaint of Armada Cyclonus.
Alt Mode:
Buzzsaw is a copter in this mode and his dominant color is a very, very bright yellow. He also has white and purple, and there is green on the windshield of the copter. He has some red highlights on his wings and the vents next to the cockpit. His min-con ports on his arms/weaponry have been remolded to fit the cyber-key feature. Once inserted it fires the missiles. His cockpit opens up just as cyclonus's does and he can have either crumplezone or the road wrecker/destruction min-con team combine with as cyclonus did. The same trigger effect is applied to the wings and mini-cons,but now there are turrets on the cockpit that works instead of cyclonus's nothing.
Robot Mode:
Now Buzzsaw still has the same colors but more purple is revealed here and of course he still has his really loud yellow. His articulation is the same as cyclonus's inn this mode and is actual really good for not having any ball joints. You can get a few decent poses with Buzzsaw. This may just be a problem with my Buzzsaw, but the mini-con port on his legs don't work, but i can pull them out, it's no big loss either way though. His head is similar to the beast wars version but is slimmer due to the mold. THe head doesn't latch but it stays in place rather well. The cyber-key and min-con effects work the same in this mode.
Final Thoughts:
Final thoughts on cybertron Buzzsaw, in my opinoin are rather high for these reasons.
They remolded a good and cheap mold to fit a character from beast wars and put more life into the beast wars. He has great play value with the ability of the cyber-key and they kept the mini-con powerlinking ability.Smart move. His alternate mode looks close to an insect and portrays the character well. For the downside to this figure, it's not much, but i would've like the yellow to be a couple of shades darker, but it's not big deal, and he has no ball joints, but his arms and legs don't fall off when I transform him. So, overall, this is a great figure for your money's worth and ties in to this years botcon well. Definitely pick this guy up.
