I was fairly surprised when I heard that a second 'Ravage' alternator was going to be done. Luckily, where I come from, they've released it, so here is a reviews of one of the unique alternators of the line.
VEHICLE MODE:
This time Ravage is born as a Jaguar XK and a black one (appropriately) at that. Again, this mode never fails to astound me when it comes to how realistic it looks.
However, unlike other alternators the hood cannot open and the steering gimmick for the front wheels is not present. Whilst this is a minor flaw, it was most likely structured that way in order for the sake of the transformation scheme.
The front doors can swing open and you can see that the interior is also black and as with the other alts nicely designed. Despite the lack of a steering gimmick, the steering wheel is present.
When looking underneath, you can see the missle launcher and a fair number of the beast mode parts, but not affect my overall opinion of the vehicle form - very cool.
TRANSFORMATION:
This is one of those alts where you need to be careful when transforming for the first time. The reason being that if you apply to much force when moving various parts (in paticular the rear legs, missle launchers and tail) they will pop or possibly break off. However once you get used to it, it's quite clever and it isn't too hard to go the other way round either.
BEAST MODE:
Black is obviously the primary colour scheme for this mode, however more purple (and a little grey-purple) details reveal themselves here. The missile launchers are silver with red tips. I like how the colours are balanced out here.
Proportions aren't too bad either. It can certainly stand on all fours and can pull some cool prowling poses. The missle launchers can also move up and down. I'm glad how the hood is folded on the back now then how it was when the first pictures on eBay came out. I'll admit he looks a little hunch-backed, but I'm bothered about that one bit.
The only problem I've found with him in this mode is that his head moves around a little too loosely, but some varnish or something will soon take care of that. Besides, I'm sure it's just with my copy, as I've heard no similar problems with the other who have this alt.
OVERALL:
This alt is unique in its own right and I give it an overall "RECOMMENDED" shading-towards "STRONGLY RECOMMENDED" rating. Though there are a couple of problems, they are not major and of course, though who were dissappointed with the Battle Ravage alt will want to pick this up. :)
