Ravage - Alternators - Figure

I was fairly surprised when I heard that a second 'Ravage' alternator was going to be done. Luckily, where I come from, they've released it, so here is a reviews of one of the unique alternators of the line.

VEHICLE MODE:

This time Ravage is born as a Jaguar XK and a black one (appropriately) at that. Again, this mode never fails to astound me when it comes to how realistic it looks.

However, unlike other alternators the hood cannot open and the steering gimmick for the front wheels is not present. Whilst this is a minor flaw, it was most likely structured that way in order for the sake of the transformation scheme.

The front doors can swing open and you can see that the interior is also black and as with the other alts nicely designed. Despite the lack of a steering gimmick, the steering wheel is present.

When looking underneath, you can see the missle launcher and a fair number of the beast mode parts, but not affect my overall opinion of the vehicle form - very cool.

TRANSFORMATION:

This is one of those alts where you need to be careful when transforming for the first time. The reason being that if you apply to much force when moving various parts (in paticular the rear legs, missle launchers and tail) they will pop or possibly break off. However once you get used to it, it's quite clever and it isn't too hard to go the other way round either.

BEAST MODE:

Black is obviously the primary colour scheme for this mode, however more purple (and a little grey-purple) details reveal themselves here. The missile launchers are silver with red tips. I like how the colours are balanced out here.

Proportions aren't too bad either. It can certainly stand on all fours and can pull some cool prowling poses. The missle launchers can also move up and down. I'm glad how the hood is folded on the back now then how it was when the first pictures on eBay came out. I'll admit he looks a little hunch-backed, but I'm bothered about that one bit.

The only problem I've found with him in this mode is that his head moves around a little too loosely, but some varnish or something will soon take care of that. Besides, I'm sure it's just with my copy, as I've heard no similar problems with the other who have this alt.

OVERALL:

This alt is unique in its own right and I give it an overall "RECOMMENDED" shading-towards "STRONGLY RECOMMENDED" rating. Though there are a couple of problems, they are not major and of course, though who were dissappointed with the Battle Ravage alt will want to pick this up. :)

My Score:
1/ My ravage head is great.

2/ The rear legs are mis-transformed in that pic. The "calves", which are attached to the rear wheels, actually move down, giving the real legs a more cat-like appearance, rather than one straight profile as they''re shown in pic.

My Score:
you could have shown that the figure could be posed. where is he meant to be from? it''s a eu plate and it says gb on the plate but it can''t be british as my car is left hand drive and has a plate on front and back with no eu sign on it at all

You forgot to mention that good ol'' ravage has thrown away his Russian accent and moved to the UK (if you check his number plate, you will see his European Number Plate with "BG" on it).

Isn''t immigration wonderful?

My Score:
I think the figure could use an extra joint on its hind legs. Aside from that, it''s a very stable figure -- stable enough to even stand on its 2 hind legs.

Unfortunately, because of that stability, the hind legs seem to be a notch lower in articulation than the front legs. You can do all sorts of cool pouncing or stalking poses with the front half.

Less 1 point for the use of rivets instead of screws on the joints. Less 1 point for lack of detail in alt mode (like an engine. Nothing else opens aside from the doors).

Plus 1 point for being a new and unique design!

That is the real ravage alternator. The other one was a bit freaky. Detail and poseability are awesome. Is also one of the best alternator conversions with more fidelty to original.

The back kibble bugs me a bit, but otherwise lightyears better than Battle Ravage.

Ummm...

Are we getting this in the US??

Haven''t found it quite yet. But I am looking orward to it. I would not be angry if they made Soundwave some kind of Truck Trailer than can carry some cars. LOL.

Looks cool though..I''m sold.

Absolutely inspired figure.

Best Alternator yet...

He looks so cool on my shelf next to the other cons.

Cool review.

Glad I avoided the Tracks repaint and waited for ravage in all his original glory.

Perspective.

Absolutely terrible figure.

Worst Alternator yet...

I know not all Transformers need to change into bipeds, but this figure looks terrible!

Nice review of a craptastic figure.

I think it''s only good to kitbash from as the chrome rims and side guns are a refreshing change...

I''m quite happy with my (original) Battle Ravage figure... Chrome rims and all...
