Transformers HD Edition - Movie - HD DVD

This version of the film has not recieved much love from most fans because of it's lack of bonus extras, no transforming case, no mini-comic, no prequel DVD, etc.

But I have to justify my purchase of my Xbox 360 HD DVD player, and what better movie to buy in HD than TRANSFORMERS.

I sat down last night and watched the movie and about 90% of the extra features of the HD DVD 2 pack. The video transfer is outstanding, colors are very crisp and vibrant, I noticed stuff I didn't see before, and I've seen it 6 times.

But....the night shots, especially close ups of the actors are a little grainy, which seems to be the case with most HD DVDs.

The sound transfer was much better in this film, than some of my other HDs, example; while watching 300, I had to keep turning the sound up during conversations, and back down for the action scenes. With this film, I never touched the volume once.

The special features are the usual "Making Of" snipets you see on most DVDs, and of course a lot of backstory on the Transformers.

The special feature I'm looking forward to seeing the most is the "Autobot HUD" which is an HD DVD exclusive, while watching the movie information about the film or a particular scene will pop up on the screen "Pop-up Video" style (for those who remember that).

All in all a great HD DVD add to my collection for only $31.79, this will be my movie of choice now when showing off my system, sorry "Superman Returns".
