Dark Scream - RiD - Figure

What can be said about Dark Scream, Gas Skunk, and Slapper, AKA The Three Stooges? Slow-witted, bumbling, and accident-prone, this terrible trio gives Waspinator a run for his money in the comedy relief department. Is it any wonder we love them so?

Beast Mode
A recolour of TM2 Night Glider, Dark Scream is a flying squirrel. Not exactly the most terrifying of beast forms, no? You see a flying great white shark, you scream. You see a giant three-headed dog, you scream and run. You see a blue ice dragon spitting supercooled ammonia everywhere, you get down on your knees and repent your sins. But a flying squirrel? I reckon I'd toss him a peanut and try to get him to say "Pokey Smoke!"

Or maybe not. Dark Scream *does* actually look kinda scary. He's light blue and silver with gold vac metal on his glide flaps, back, and tail. He has red hover fans mounted near the tips of each flap and gold patches around his red eyes. He's got sharp spikes running along the edge of his flaps and along his tail. And instead of buck teeth, Dark Scream's mouth contains sharp fangs. Plus when you toss in the fact that he's around the size of a Kodiak bear, I suppose I would be scared if I saw him coming at me. From snout to tail tip, Dark Scream measures just over 15 cm(6") long with a 10 cm(4") flapspan. While he looks good from above, he's got a large bit of undercarriage garbage to him. His little front limbs have two ball joints apiece while his rear legs have three. But since a flying squirrel's limbs are attached to its skin flaps, I guess he's meant to stay spread-eagled on his belly all the time. His tail can also wag up and down.

Transformation
Not difficult at all, except you need to remember which way to have his robot head turned while transforming. Also, his robot arms keep popping off at the shoulders. Annoying.

Robot Mode
Dark Scream stands 9.5 cm(3.7") tall at the head in robot mode. He's still mostly blue and silver, except now he has purple on his waist, chest, and head. His face is purple with red eyes. A Predacon Spark crystal is mounted dead centre in his chest. His flaps and tail make Dark Scream rather backheavy; fortunately his long heel spurs help him remain standing. His tail can also be lowered to act as a third leg for balance.

Dark Scream is articulated at the head, shoulders, elbows, waist, hips, knees, and ankles. His front squirrel limbs can reach forwards to act as an extra set of arms. His main weapon is a broadsword that slides out from his tail. En guarde!

Overall
Suspsy Sez: This guy's definitely got a nicer colour scheme than Night Glider, but then, almost anything's nicer than orange. Good if somewhat unposeable beast mode, okay transformation, good robot mode with neat weapon.
